TransferForge is a mobile file-transfer application that allows users to connect to FTP and SFTP servers, browse files, and transfer files between their device and servers they choose to configure.
This Privacy Policy explains how TransferForge handles information when you use the application.
TransferForge does not operate a central user account system and does not require users to register or create a TransferForge account.
TransferForge does not directly collect or store on developer-controlled servers:
Names
Postal addresses
Email addresses
Phone numbers
Contact lists
Server passwords
FTP or SFTP credentials
Files transferred using the application
Payment card information
TransferForge does not sell users' server credentials, files or personal information.
To connect to FTP or SFTP servers, users may provide:
Server hostname or IP address
Port number
Username
Password
Connection type
Starting folder/path
SSH host fingerprint information
Saved connection preferences
This information is used only to allow TransferForge to connect to servers selected by the user.
Sensitive credentials are stored locally on the user's device using secure operating-system storage where supported.
The developer of TransferForge does not receive or have access to saved server passwords or FTP/SFTP login credentials.
TransferForge allows users to browse, upload, download, rename, move and delete files on servers they configure.
Files are transferred directly between the user's device and the FTP or SFTP server selected by the user.
TransferForge does not operate a central cloud-storage service and does not upload users' transferred files to servers controlled by the developer.
Temporary local files may be created where necessary for file transfers, opening files, sharing files or other file-management operations.
TransferForge supports FTP and SFTP connections.
SFTP provides encrypted communication between the user's device and the remote server.
Standard FTP is not encrypted by default and may transmit usernames, passwords and files without encryption. Users are responsible for selecting an appropriate protocol for their server and security requirements.
TransferForge includes SSH host verification features for supported SFTP connections.
TransferForge may store information locally on the user's device, including:
Saved connection details
Transfer history
Recent folders
Application preferences
Transfer queue information
Securely stored credentials
This data is used to provide TransferForge functionality and is not uploaded to a developer-controlled TransferForge server.
Users can remove local information by deleting saved connections, clearing the application's data through Android settings, or uninstalling TransferForge.
TransferForge uses Android's file and folder selection system to allow users to choose locations the app may access.
Users explicitly choose which folders or files TransferForge is allowed to use.
TransferForge does not require unrestricted access to the user's entire photo or video library.
TransferForge may use an Android foreground data-sync service while a user-initiated file transfer is running.
This allows uploads and downloads to continue when the app is minimised or the device screen is locked.
A visible Android notification may display transfer progress and provide controls such as cancelling a transfer.
The background service is used for file-transfer functionality and not for background location tracking.
Internet and network access are required for TransferForge to communicate with FTP and SFTP servers configured by the user.
TransferForge may also check network availability, including Wi-Fi connectivity, when features such as Wi-Fi-only transfers are enabled.
The free version of TransferForge may display advertising provided by Google AdMob.
Google's Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share certain information for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes. According to Google, this may include:
IP address, which may be used to estimate general location
Interactions with the app or advertisements
Diagnostic and performance information
Advertising identifiers, App Set ID or other device/account identifiers where applicable
Google states that data collected by the Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted while being transmitted. The availability of certain identifiers can also depend on device settings, consent choices and advertising configuration.
TransferForge does not receive users' FTP/SFTP credentials or transferred file contents through AdMob.
TransferForge uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising privacy choices where required.
When TransferForge starts, the app may check whether a consent or privacy message needs to be shown before requesting advertisements. Google recommends refreshing consent information when the app launches and checking whether ads may be requested before displaying them.
Depending on the user's location, applicable privacy law and consent choices, advertising may operate with different levels of personalisation.
Where required, TransferForge may provide a privacy-options control that allows users to review or change applicable advertising privacy choices.
TransferForge currently uses Google services including:
Google AdMob
Used to provide advertising within the free version of TransferForge.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
Used to manage advertising consent and privacy choices where required.
These services are operated by Google and are subject to Google's own privacy and data-handling practices.
TransferForge does not control the data-processing practices of Google or other third-party services.
TransferForge may allow users to open or share downloaded files using other applications installed on their device.
When a user chooses another application to open or share a file, that application's own privacy policy and data practices apply.
TransferForge does not control how third-party applications process files shared with them.
TransferForge connects only to FTP and SFTP servers specified by the user.
Those servers may be operated by the user, a hosting provider, game-server provider, business or another third party.
TransferForge does not control how those third-party servers store, process or retain data.
Users should review the privacy and security policies of any server provider they choose to use.
If TransferForge is downloaded through Google Play, Google may process information relating to downloads, installations, device compatibility, purchases and other Google Play services.
TransferForge does not receive users' Google account passwords or payment-card information from Google Play.
If TransferForge Pro or other purchases are offered through Google Play, payment processing will be handled by Google Play.
TransferForge is a general-purpose server and file-management utility and is not specifically designed for children.
TransferForge does not knowingly operate a system intended to collect personal information from children.
TransferForge does not maintain a developer-controlled database containing users' FTP/SFTP credentials or transferred files.
Locally stored application information remains on the user's device until it is removed by the user, application data is cleared, or TransferForge is uninstalled.
Information stored on third-party FTP or SFTP servers is controlled by the relevant server owner or provider.
Advertising-related information processed by Google is subject to Google's own retention and privacy practices.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when TransferForge gains new functionality, when third-party services change, or when legal or platform requirements change.
Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
