This keyboard was used in the syfa systems VDU 1 by Computer Automation, in the UK they were based at Hertford House, Maple Cross near Rickmansworth and had a large number of commercial customers. The Syfa system was used by many companies to perform jobs such as stock control, factory shop floor job control, order processing and a gateway to a mainframe computer mostly an IBM. Customers included supermarkets, flour mills, breweries, Component manufacturing. One large collections of this type of VDU/Keyboard was at Heathrow (British airways) for data entry of the old wax type air tickets.
The Keyboard was permanently connected to the display unit via a fly lead, there was two D type connectors on the back one 25 way for main communication to the Syfa system and one 9 way for a remote printer. The connection to the Syfa system was async coms using RS232 (+/- 12v) normally at 9600 baud.
