FastTrack is (you guessed it!) a quick way for beginners to learn to play an instrument or sing. Skeptical of method books? (Yeah, we think they're kind of boring, too.) That's why we've made FastTrack different from the rest: user-friendly, with plenty of cool songs, and a lot more fun! These books teach you what you need to know to get playing right away, but also the fun stuff you want to know. Every book includes a great-sounding CD so that you can play-along or just hear how the music should sound. Plus, there's an added bonus: the last section for most of the FastTrack method books for different instruments is the same so that players can form a band and jam together! How cool is that?!

The recording arts emphasis focuses on contemporary analog and digital technology as it is used in music recording, sound reinforcement and media applications (Internet, video games, interactive art installations, etc.). While mastering technology skills and formats, musicians also study the artistic and aesthetic applications of technology to recording, reinforcement, composition and performance.

Edit:

Forgot to talk about tracks, which in a studio/ production house references a single recorded/edit source. If we are referencing a single track, that is processed, and then further interpreted to be amplified on a consumer grade component system, then said track may be a song, comedy album, or various other produced end materials sourced for a particular audience.

Optional: If approved, a student may present a solo recital during their junior or senior year. Students with a GPA of 3.7 or higher may submit a proposal to present an honors recital in the music performance track. See Honors Program guidelines for detailed information.

Students are required to gather in-person experience in the music business industry with two internships (MUS 488 & MUS 489). Students will have the option to choose two classes to learn more about the distinctive areas of the industry. These classes are; MUS 332: Marketing in the Music Business, MUS 333: Live Performance & Concert Production, MUS 334: Artist Management & Development, and MUS 335 Copyright Law & Legal Issues.

Students are required to participate in a major ensemble involving their primary instrument concurrent with every semester of applied music study. Major ensembles include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, University Orchestra, Concert Choir, Vox Lumina, Una Voce. Some performance areas have more specific requirements. Students should consult their advisors and applied lesson teachers for detailed requirements.

Professional music track courses will account for 16 of the 30 major credits. Students may choose up to three (3) tracks and must take a minimum of (3) courses per track. Certain tracks have specific course requirements and restrictions. If you exceed the 16 credits, those additional credits can be applied to general electives.

Some minors are also applicable as tracks. Students must commit to the minimum requirements of these minors in order to apply them as pro music tracks. Students are strongly encouraged to officially declare the minor. The minor in music technology is only offered in Valencia and can be completed in one semester of study.

*Students who plan on double majoring may not pursue a professional music track in the same area as the other major; e.g., a double major in pro music and music business may not choose music business as their pro music track. In general, academic credits for the major must be unique, and cannot "double count" across two majors.

The student will complete a final project in the designated area(s) or tracks whose content and/or enactment are equal in quality and extent to the demands of the current professional music environment.

To declare a music major in the Composition Track, students must first take MUS 121 Theory and Analysis I, and one semester of MUS 349R Composition. Upon completion of these two courses, refer to the Declaring a Music Major & Advising page for more information, and submit a portfolio for approval by the Composition faculty.

Before enrolling in MUS 349 for the first semester, students will be asked to submit 1-3 short work samples (scores, recordings, electronic pieces, midi realizations are all fine), along with a 250-word statement about their interest in composition and musical background. If students do not have work samples, the statement will suffice. Students should also schedule an introductory meeting with Dr. Mirza or Dr. Young.

I'm not seeing ANY playcounts being logged for any songs listened to that haven't been added to my library from any device. This is a bummer. I was hoping the service would keep track of ratings and playcounts for any song, whether I've added it to my library or not. That way, I could rate songs and have a smart playlist that will pull any song i've ever rated and I don't have to clutter my library for just that one song. It would also keep from making a "favorite" song a 2 step process to get in a playlist. Right now, you have to add a song to your library and rate it or add it to a playlist. You can't even rate or add a song to a playlist in iTunes without adding it to your library first (which explains why you can do it in the Music app on an iOS device but nothing actually happens). On most other services, such as Google Play All Access, you can just "like" (star, thumbs up, whatever) and it will show up in the starred/thumbs up list whether you've made it a part of your library or not. It makes it easy to keep track of songs you liked and go back and listen to them later without the clunkiness of multiple taps. If Apple were to make APple Music work in this way, you could ultimately like a song from the lockscreen and it would show up in a playlist (either a smart playlist you create, or an auto-playlist Apple would create, like is done on Google Play All Access and Spotify).

Track ratings (with stars) are indeed well synchronized : tracks rated on iPad will appear with the same rating in iTunes after connecting iPad with WiFi, but playcounts desperately remain at "0" in iTunes, even after a few hours connection of iPad to network

Then, after reading one track off-line on iPad (downloaded from Apple Music), this track disappears from the playlist on iPad only, but remains in the playlist in iTunes (because playcount won't update), even after connecting iPad to network

Once you connect the iPad to the network, do you play a song from it? In my experience, you have to play a track to completion after 12 hours has passed since the last sync from that iOS device. I have never explicitly tested this for tracks played when offline but I don't have any reason to believe it doesn't work properly since it doesn't sync after each track play anyway. It's just syncing the played tracks from the device after the last sync. If I get a chance, I'll test it out.

In the field of recorded music, a hidden track (sometimes called a ghost track, secret track or unlisted track) is a song or a piece of audio that has been placed on a CD, audio cassette, LP record, or other recorded medium, in such a way as to avoid detection by the casual listener. In some cases, the piece of music may simply have been left off the track listing, while in other cases, more elaborate methods are used. In rare cases, a 'hidden track' is actually the result of an error that occurred during the mastering stage production of the recorded media.[1] However, since the rise of digital and streaming services such as iTunes and Spotify in the late 2000s and early 2010s, the inclusion of hidden tracks has declined on studio albums. e24fc04721
