I'm having an issue with different font weights displaying on my website. I customized the weight for some of the text in css, and it shows properly when I am adding the Custom CSS, but when I publish the site the bolder text is no longer there. Any way to fix this?

Although, I think they are too bold and would like to lower the font-weight. I'm using the font Halyard Display (comes with Squarespace) and can see that the font has the weights 100-900 when I click on Fonts > Headings > Weights.

I am using Hypatia Sans for my body copy, which is a preloaded font. I am using 300 weight and the default bold is very heavy. I would like to bring the bold down to the 600 weight. I have found how to adjust the bold across the entire website, but not for just the body copy.

I'm using Brine Template and would like to change my links in the text to bold. I couldn't find it in the settings.

I tried this css code: a:link {; font-weight: bold;; } however it changed all my links to bold, not only text blocks, but also links in summary and other blocks, which I don't want.

Does anyone know how to make bold links only in the text blocks?

Thanks in advance!

I tried adding your code and adjusting the number and unfortunately it only allows me to change whether the text is bold or not bold. It doesn't actually give me control over the weight of the bold font. It appears as though =501 onwards is bold. Below are few screenshots to illustrate this.

Then you can add the other codes back in one by one. That said, I'm not sure you even need to add bold or italic versions into your site. You should be able to just add the regular text and then specify bold or italic using the text editor.

When text is scaled, other size settings won't affect it. You can use headings or paragraph formatting to match other styling, like fonts, and to optimize your text for SEO. You can still bold, italicize, and strikethrough text when it's scaled, and change its color, but options like lists and pull quotes won't work.

Sometimes foreign or special characters appear bold or in a different font than the surrounding text. This issue may be due to browser variations in rendering special characters. If you copied and pasted this text, try typing the text directly into Squarespace.

Whenever I view my site on mobile device via the SS app (specifically, iPhone or iPad), any bold font style will initially flash bold but turn to a normal style. Only once have I seen it work correctly on mobile device. Everything looks fine on computer, even when switching to the mobile layout, but just not on mobile within SS app. I'm not using any custom loaded fonts...only the ones that come preloaded with SS font packages (Montserrat and Poppins).

The client has been copying and pasting his text from word straight into squarespace and I've been going in and adding it back as plain text where needed (I know it's not best practice but he's in his 70s so I don't want to overcomplicate things for him!)

wondering if there's some easy css I can add to all my clients sites so that the font weight doesn't increase like it appears to do in Firefox? Hasn't been a huge concern until this current site I'm working on where it removes all the subtle texture and feel I'm wanting from the heading fonts. It looks terrible in Firefox! Firefox also really seems to boost the saturation of all colours... if there was a fix to that too, so that my sites look identical across all browsers that would be wonderful.

The bold text feature in text boxes is sporadically working and then not working. I cannot figure out WHY!!! I've cleared the formatting in all text boxes, signed in and out, cleared my cache......what else?? Any troubleshooting suggestions?

On one page of my website and one page only, all the text below a set of buttons is bolded for the end user, and I cannot seem to remove it no matter what I try. When I am in edit mode, the text is not bold. It's only bold for the site visitors, on mobile and desktop, and only one page!

I have tried applying bold, and then removing bold, I have tried "clear formatting", I have deleted all text, and pasted again as plain text, I have tried a completely new text box and typed words afresh. Doesn't matter so far... it's always bold font for the end user and only happening on that one page.

I've seen a lot of posts about custom font issues recently, but I'm so confused about what's going on with my latest site build. I bought the Web Font License from Din Studio ( -studio.com/product/safira-march/) and put it into Custom CSS using @font-face, but it isn't displaying correctly. I've attached a photo to show how the font should look and what it is looking like on the website. I've tried uploading it as otf, ttf and most recently using woff ( as per this tutorial - -way-to-upload-custom-fonts-squarespace), and none of them are displaying the font as it should be.

This is all unfortunate because using a element (Squarespace Quote Block) provides significant semantic and structural meaning to the code and content. If you format a line of text has a Heading 2 or make it bold, all of that context is lost. Any machine trying to understand your page content, be a search spider, the AMP engine, an RSS reader, or an accessibility device, is going to misrepresent that content to the detriment of it's meaning and the user.

Our Squarespace site has a catalogue containing products from multiple brands. I'm trying to ensure the brand name stands out by making it bold but given the way Squarespace works, I need to add Javascript into the page to manipulate the html.
