Fundraisers and Drives

About 800 individually packed items were counted by the Student Council and donated to St. Anne’s.
As most of you probably know by now, the Student Council recently held a Spirit of Giving Drive to #MeetTheNeed. The drive was primarily for sanitary items that are especially important during this pandemic. I am proud to report that the drive was successful and as a community SHS was able to donate many items to families in need. Most items were given out just a week after the drive so donations are already being put to a good use.
A few fundraisers you should be on the lookout for in the new year are being held by GMAD and ELNA.
GMAD will be hosting a fundraiser they’ve done in years past where you can go to Chipotle, order some food, show them a flyer when you pay and a part of the proceeds will be donated to charity. I guarantee that so many SHS students buy Chipotle on the regular, so why not participate, get some good food, and donate to a good cause.
ELNA is working on partnering with Ladki Love to support young women in India by becoming an ambassador and selling stickers and bracelets. In India 90% of the 11 million abandoned children are female. Women are seen as inferior to men in India but Ladki Love is working to combat this through their organization. This fundraiser will be taking place in the new year so be on the lookout.
These are just a few of the upcoming drives that you can participate to help give back to the community and less fortunate. Be sure to follow the Student Council at @stuco_shs, GMAD at @gmadshs, and ELNA at @shs.enla all on Instagram to be informed about the drives and fundraisers at the high school, and be sure to look out for more opportunities to give back.
Even if you yourself are unable to give back, which is totally acceptable especially during this uncertain time, make sure to share this article or tell your friends about these fundraisers to get the word out. Spreading the word helps out a lot more than you realize.
