Ready to improve your score? Sign up for the 2024-2025 Summer SAT Prep class led by Lakeside High School's Valedictorian and Salutatorian, Iziq Thomas and Jerry Lu. Having scored 1560 and 1580 respectively using a variety of study techniques, they are very excited to share with you their experience, test-taking skills, and other advice to help you maximize your score.
Courses span all 8 weeks of summer and are priced at a highly competitive rate compared to local offerings!
Iziq Thomas is an incoming Foundation Fellow and STAMPS Scholar at the University of Georgia. Selected among the top 30 undergraduates in UGA's 15,900+ member incoming cohort, he has had great success in navigating the college admissions process in large amount due to his academic success.
With a 1560 SAT and 1490 PSAT, he, like Jerry, was a National Merit Finalist. Additionally, he has scored highly on many AP exams including AP Calculus BC (5), AP Statistics (5), AP English Language and Composition (5), AP Macroeconomics (5), AP Biology (5), AP World History (5), AP U.S. Government and Politics (4).
Iziq has also taken part in extensive national and international research, including an 8-week internship at Stanford University, a published paper in IOVS, and presentations at national and international levels. Additionally, he has served as the lead instructor of higher-level mathematics and reading at Kumon of Augusta for nearly 8 years where he has honed his abilities to individually cater to each student's skillsets. Using this experience, he is proud to have tutored a student last summer to a 300+ point score improvement.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Iziq loves to be active, frequenting the gym with Jerry and having competed at high levels in track and cross country for over 10 years. He also enjoys cooking, studying, and sleeping!

Jerry Lu will attend Cornell University in the Fall as a Chemistry and Chemical Biology major on the pre-med track. With a 1580 SAT and 1500 PSAT, Jerry is a National Merit Scholarship Winner and Lakeside's STAR Student, achieving the highest SAT score in his graduating class. Accepted to all the colleges he's applied to, Jerry has had great success in the college application process. This success is largely due to his strategies in navigating standardized testing and the admissions process, which he can't wait to share this summer!
In addition to his test scores, Jerry has attained national and state recognition for his academic achievements. Jerry is the president and captain of many academic competition teams at Lakeside. As the captain of the math team, Jerry has qualified for American Invitational Mathematics Examination four years in a row, attained the top 1% in the US National Chemistry Olympiad, and was published in internationally recognized research journals such as Biomolecules! Additionally, he is the captain of Lakeside's Science Bowl Team, which have been recognized in national-level competitions four years in a row!
Jerry has also had great success in his AP Examinations, and just recently completed the IB program at Lakeside High School. He has scored highly on AP Physics C Mechanics (5), AP Physics C E&M (5), AP World History (5), AP Calculus BC (5), AP Chemistry (5), AP Biology (5), AP Statistics (5), and AP Government (5). In addition to AP and IB coursework, Jerry has completed Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus with Georgia Tech's Distance Math program, attaining a 4.0 as a dual-enrollment student!
Additionally, Jerry has hundreds of hours of experience in both class and private tutoring from working as an instructor at Kumon as well as volunteering afterschool at Lakeside. These experiences have allowed Jerry to adjust to each student's unique needs and strengths, and leveraging those to dramatic score improvements!
Outside of hitting the textbooks, Jerry also hits the gym and benches 225 (with the help of Iziq). Oh, and did we mention that he's performed with a symphony as a soloist? What a cool guy!
