The unit and issues surplus Navy uniforms to Cadets of which is included in the $60 uniform fee. Uniforms may be exchanged throughout the Cadet's participation in the program when different sizes are needed.

Please remember that these are pre-worn uniforms and not all sizes are available. Parents are responsible for alterations as needed. If the Cadet leaves the program, all issued uniforms must be returned as they are considered on loan to the cadet.

Not all required items may be issued; items such as black socks, T-shirts, name tapes, and other miscellaneous items will be required at the Cadet’s expense.

ORDERING NAME TAPES

Name Tapes / Branch Tapes

Name tapes and USNSCC / USNLCC flashes are required on all uniforms to identify the Cadet and his/her affiliation with the NSCC / NSCC. Name tapes are strips of material with the Cadet’s name and branch embroidered on it.

Your Cadet will need 4 last name tapes and 2 branch (USNSCC or USNLCC) tapes.

Below, we will walk through step by step to order them from 1800nametape.com. This is the easiest and quickest way to source these.

1. Click on the link: http://www.1800nametape.com/usnscc.htm

2. Scroll down the page to NWU Name Tapes.

3. Next, in all CAPS, type in your cadet's last name in the "Type the Last Name Wanted" box.

4. Ensure that Silver Thread is selected.

5. Click "Add to Cart".

Inside your cart...we need to update the Quantity from 1 to 4.

After adding and updating your cart, you will click "Continue Shopping" and scroll down to USNSCC BRANCH TAPES.

Inside your cart...we need to update the branch tape Quantity from 1 to 2.

After adding the 2 branch tapes to your cart, you should now have 4 name tapes, and 2 branch tapes subtotaling $12.00.

Next, click "Proceed to Checkout"!

Click "Guest" to being checkout.

NSCC - SEA CADET NAVY WORKING UNIFORM (NWU)

NWU Working Uniform

Items that will be issued by Top Hatters and included in the Uniform Fee:

  • NWU Shirt
  • NWU Trouser
  • Cap, 8-Point
  • Belt, black with Silver Clip and Silver Buckle
  • Collar Insignia
  • USNSCC Pocket Flash, Black

The eight point cover should sit squarely on the head with the brim of the cover parallel to the deck, and should be marked with the appropriate flash.

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadets patches will be issued by Top Hatters Squadron and is included in the Uniform Fee.

When choosing to roll their sleeves the roll should be 3” in length and rest 2” above the bend in the elbow.

The Supply Officer can assist with this if needed.

NSCC - SEA CADET DRESS UNIFORM

Sea Cadets wear the same uniform that active duty sailors wear.

Females now wear the Dress Blue jumper uniform that males do.

These uniforms should have the flashes and rankings sewn on as shown below.

All Uniforms should always be neat and presentable when arriving to drill or training.

Cadets will undergo regular uniform inspections to ensure proper wear and fit of Uniform Items.

League Cadets wear the older Navy ‘Salt and Pepper’ uniform as their Summer Dress Whites and the ‘Johnny Cash’ uniforms as their Dress Blue Uniforms.

Male and Female uniforms are similar.

These uniforms should have the flashes and rankings sewn on as shown below.

All Uniforms should always be neat and presentable when arriving to drill or training.

DRESS SHOES

Bates Lites Black Leather Oxford

Shoes, Service, Black

Worn by NSCC / NLCC cadets.

Plain toed, oxford style black, brown, or white, low quarter, lace shoe, made of smooth leather or synthetic leather. The heel shall be an outside heel 3/4 inch – 7/8 inch high with a flat sole.

Important note about dress shoes. The exact shoes, as pictured, are not completely necessary. Any black dress shoe that is:

1. Black, leather (for polishing)

2. Laced

3. No seams along the top toe area, are completely acceptable.

DRESS SHOES OPTION 1 - Navy Exchange Uniform Center

Bates Men’s Lites, Black Leather Oxford

New shoes here cost upward of $100, as they are original navy issue and they are very durable. With your cadets’ feet in a constant state of growth, this may not be the best option. Many other sites on the web offer the Bates Lites Leather Oxford at a reduced price.

DRESS SHOES OPTION 2 - M&G Surplus

BOOTS

Belleville (360ST) Boot

Boot, Combat, Black

Important note about boots. The exact boots, as pictured, are not completely necessary.

Any black boot that is:

1. Plain steel-toed

2. Laced

3. 8 or 9 inch high top made of water-resistant leather with rubber outsoles, are completely acceptable.

BOOTS OPTION 1 - Navy Exchange Uniform Center

Belleville (360ST) Boot

New boots here cost upward of $140, as they are original navy issue and they are very durable. With your cadets’ feet in a constant state of growth, this may not be the best option. Many other sites on the web offer the 360ST boot at a reduced price.

BOOTS OPTION 2 - Great Lakes Uniform Depot

Belleville (360ST) Boot

These pre-worn boots cost $40 and can be ordered through Top Hatters Squadron. They are original navy issue but were previously issued to navy personnel and are still in very good condition. Sizes vary depending on availability from the depot and size availability can change frequently.
