Toothache Remedies You Can Prepare At Home

Toothache can be unbearable. Things can get even worse when you don’t have quick access to the dentist. In this scenario, anything which can help you get temporary relief would mean the world to you. Having that said, there are some ways you can get a break from the consistent and extreme pain in the tooth.

Cold compress

If the toothache you experience is due to inflammation and swelling, you can get some relief by applying and ice pack on the outside cheek area right above the aching tooth and gums. This cold compress is going to numb the area and provide you with the relief in just a few minutes. As a matter of fact, this cold compress is going to reduce swelling and inflammation. It means that you are going to have this relief for a few hours until you find a way to go to the dentist.

Clove oil

Another way of reducing tooth pain is to use the clove oil. The easy way is to dip the cotton ball in the clove oil and let it soak up a few drops. You can rub this ball on the area that is soar and aching. This rubbing of oil can reduce the pain to a degree at which you will be able to wait for the dental appointment.

Clove oil is effective due to the presence of eugenol which is a natural anesthetic substance. However, it would be worth mentioning that close oil is a remedy just to kill the pain for a few hours. It doesn’t cure the problem.

Salt water rinse

You can get great amount of relief from tooth pain if you rinse your mouth with warm salt water. For this purpose, you can add a few teaspoons of salt into the warm water and mix the salt. Swish the water and spit it out.

Here, it would be worth mentioning that both hot and cold water can be quite uncomfortable for your aching tooth and gums. However, warm water can bring good relief. Warm water can be soothing and salt mixed the water can help you reduce the swelling and inflammation.

Medication for tooth pain

In case of extreme pain, you can go for the use of over-the-counter medicines for pain relief. However, you have to make sure that you are not holding the medication against the soar gums and teeth which ache because the medication can cause burning in this scenario.

Again, the medication for pain relief is only meant to provide you the relief until you are able to see the dentist.
