About Me

High Standard of Dentistry

I have undertaken thousands of hours of postgraduate training and have been awarded multiple postgraduate qualifications, most recently achieving my Masters in Restorative Dentistry (with Distinction) in 2021.

Over the years, I have developed protocols that allow for a high standard of care. I don't take shortcuts. This means your appointments may be a little longer with me, but if the work I provide lasts you longer, this will save you money, and more importantly save you teeth, in the long run.

I have a critical eye for detail, so invest in high quality equipment, like my 7.2x magnification loupes and DSLR camera, to help achieve the best results for my patients.

Gentle Caring Nature

I am used to treating anxious patients, with over 20 years experience in doing so.

I understand that trust and respect is crucial in forming positive relationships. I will put you at ease and take things at your pace. At no point will you feel rushed and no treatment will be carried out unless you are 100% happy. You are always in control.

Most treatments in dentistry can be undertaken in a pain-free manner. Often it just takes time, the correct technique, the right equipment and knowledge of how to use it.

Committed to Prevention

My patients want to keep their teeth for as long as they can, and I help them realise that goal, supporting them the entire way.

Prevention is the foundation of any work that is carried out, as it massively affects the long term outcome.

I truly believe in empowering my patients, so they understand what is going on inside their mouths.

This allows them to make informed choices that are good for their dental health and good for their wallet, by preventing problems in the future.

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

My approach to care is grounded in the philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry.

This means conforming to biomimetic dentistry principles where possible, placing restorations that look and function like natural teeth but at the same time preserving as much healthy tooth tissue as possible.

Tooth tissue is precious, and can't grow back, so protecting it is pivotal in maintaining the strength of a tooth.

Bespoke Smiles

Everyone is individual, no two smiles are the same.

When planning cosmetic cases, I undertake a comprehensive smile analysis, which involves the use of photographs and 3D scans of your teeth.

I then create a bespoke treatment plan that address your specific needs.

I endeavour to recreate nature, whilst restoring oral health and enhancing the beauty of your individual smile.

Your smile, but better.

Comprehensive Dentistry

Comprehensive dentistry is an approach where I assess and treat the whole mouth, not just a single tooth in trouble. This may sound obvious, but it is important to treat each tooth in the context of the whole mouth.

Every case undergoes a thorough assessment and is planned meticulously. Doing this enables me to treat more complex cases predictably with long term success, providing you with the best smile for the future, not just today!

My Story

I graduated as a dentist from Manchester University in 2002, being awarded the 'Best Research Presentation' prize in my final year.

Later that year, I joined the British Army where I had the honour of providing high quality dental care to armed forces personnel and their dependents in the UK and overseas for 20 years. I treated patients from many different backgrounds, sometimes in rather challenging environments. I am immensely proud of my military service. During this time my main mission was to provide high quality dental treatment that was going to last. I have carried on this ethos since leaving the Army.

I truly believe in lifelong education and am dedicated in staying up-to-date with the latest dental techniques. I have honed my skills in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, undertaking thousands of hours of postgraduate training to provide the best dentistry I can to my patients. I have been awarded multiple post graduate qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and am a Member of the College of General Dentistry. I have a Diploma and Masters (distinction) in Restorative Dentistry.

My passion for cosmetic dentistry is centred around a love for creating beautiful, natural looking bespoke smiles to present the best version of you... your smile, but better :-)

I am a bit of a perfectionist with a critical eye for detail which helps me elevate the standard of care I can provide. I love the reaction of my patients after I have transformed their smile. Giving patients back their confidence is so rewarding. Please peruse my Smile Gallery to see some of the smile transformations I have created for my patients.

Outside of work, I love being a husband and father to my two wonderful children. I enjoy going on adventures - seeing the world and experiencing different cultures, mountaineering, skiing, SCUBA diving, photography, pottering about in the garden and giving back as a volunteer leader with my local scout group.

Teaching & Assessing

I work at the University Dental Hospital Manchester as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in the restorative department, helping train the next generation of dentists.

Photography has always been a passion of mine, which has naturally expanded into dental photography. I have given presentations and taught many other dentists on the subject.

Up until the recent past, I was an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, appraising the skills of other dentists in postgraduate exams, both in the UK and abroad.

I have also been a specialist adviser for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) visiting other dental practices to assess the quality of patient care.
