pronounced 'Kai'
Hi, I'm Ky.
I am a qualified teacher with an array of qualifications and certifications, and 12 years teaching experience across years teaching experience, across South Africa, South Korea and China. Along with 7 years in curriculum and content development, and over 4 years Management experience. I have a Masters in Education, and hold double majors for my post- and undergrad degrees. I have TEFL, TESOL, CLIL, Positive Discipline, and other specific Teaching Certifications from various reputable institutions [from the US and UK].. The bulk of my experience is within the ESL Industry. After teaching within mainstream K1 to K12 schooling, I transitioned into lecturing at reputable universities across Shanghai (such as Shanghai Normal University, SNU: Tianhua college, SMIS, (Shanghai) Donghua University, and others.). This is where I grew my expertise of teaching IELTS, TOEFL, Public Speaking, and Business, as well as developing curriculum for such subjects. After a few years, I returned to where I started my teaching practicals, in the Early Years, and competed my Masters in Early Years Childhood Education, in July 2022.
I love teaching, it is a passion - it allows me to be constantly learning, it's vibrant, creative and full of energy.
I proudly say: They show me every day how capable we are as humans, if only we open our minds, and aren't afraid to try.
I have a variety of skills accumulated over the years across industries, including (but not limited to), communication, presentation, organisational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, collaboration and adaptability skills. In addition to: Positive Discipline Technique Certifications, Material- and Curriculum development, management skills within varying leadership roles, and training skills. I have also acquired many invaluable technological skillsets, especially regarding promotional marketing, publication writings, videography and editing.
I enjoy being in the classroom, though would eventually like to step behind the scenes in a full capacity, to work on the creation of a more multi-faceted functional schooling curriculum [hence the creation of TBX.ED], and/or even operate in a trainer capacity for teachers (and parents) specialising in ECE Development and SEL.
Slow and steady wins the race :)
