Toolbox Mega ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application Toolbox Mega (the "App").
By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the App.
### Information We Collect
We collect information to provide and improve our services. All data processing is done locally on your device unless otherwise stated.
#### 1. Information You Provide Directly
- **User Content**: Content you create within the App, such as:
- QR codes you generate
- Todo list items
- Reminder messages
- Counter values
- Settings and preferences
- Feature usage preferences (e.g., Light Warning feature acknowledgment status)
- **Contact Information** (Optional): When creating vCard QR codes, you may select contacts from your device. This information is only used locally to generate QR codes and is never transmitted to our servers.
#### 2. Information Collected Automatically
- **Device Information**:
- Device model and manufacturer
- Operating system version
- Unique device identifiers (used only for app functionality)
- Screen resolution and orientation
- **Usage Data**:
- Features you use
- App crash reports (anonymized)
- Performance metrics
- **Location Data**:
- **When Used**: Only when you actively use location-based features:
- GPS Speedometer
- Google Maps integration
- Compass (for showing coordinates)
- Qibla Finder
- **How Used**: Location data is processed **locally on your device only**
- **Storage**: We **do NOT** store or transmit your location data to any external servers
- **Sharing**: Location data is **never shared** with third parties except Google Maps (subject to Google's privacy policy)
#### 3. Sensor Data
The App uses various device sensors for specific features. **All sensor data is processed locally and never transmitted to external servers:**
- **Camera**: Used exclusively for:
- QR code scanning
- Barcode scanning
- Camera preview is shown on your device only, never recorded or transmitted
- **Microphone**: Used exclusively for:
- Sound Meter feature (to measure ambient sound levels in decibels)
- Flashlight Music Reactive Mode (to detect music/audio beats and synchronize flashlight with music)
- Audio data is processed in real-time, never recorded or saved
- **Accelerometer & Gyroscope**: Used for:
- Level tool (to measure surface angles)
- Compass orientation
- All data processed locally on device
- **Magnetometer**: Used for:
- Compass feature
- Magnetometer tool
- All data processed locally on device
- **Light Sensor**: Used for:
- Light Meter feature
- All data processed locally on device
- **GPS**: Used for:
- GPS Speedometer
- Location coordinates
- Qibla direction calculation
- All data processed locally on device
### Why We Request Sensitive Permissions
We request the following permissions only for specific features. You can revoke any permission at any time through your device settings:
#### Required Permissions (Requested Only When Needed)
1. **CAMERA Permission**
- **Purpose**: To scan QR codes and barcodes using your device's camera
- **Features**: QR Code Scanner, Barcode Scanner
- **Data Usage**: Camera preview is shown on screen only. We do NOT record, store, or transmit any camera data
- **When Requested**: Only when you open QR Code or Barcode scanning features
2. **RECORD_AUDIO Permission**
- **Purpose**: To measure ambient sound levels and detect music/audio beats
- **Features**: Sound Meter, Flashlight (Music Reactive Mode)
- **Data Usage**: Audio is processed in real-time to:
- Measure decibel levels (Sound Meter)
- Detect music beats and synchronize flashlight with music rhythm (Flashlight Music Reactive Mode)
- **Important**: We do NOT record, save, or transmit any audio data. All audio processing occurs locally on your device in real-time only
- **When Requested**:
- When you open the Sound Meter feature
- When you enable Music Reactive Mode in the Flashlight feature
3. **ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION Permissions**
- **Purpose**: To provide location-based features
- **Features**: GPS Speedometer, Google Maps, Compass coordinates, Qibla Finder
- **Data Usage**: Location data is used **locally on your device only** to:
- Calculate current speed (GPS Speedometer)
- Display your position on map (Maps feature)
- Show coordinates (Compass)
- Calculate Qibla direction (Qibla Finder)
- **Storage**: We **do NOT** store your location history
- **Transmission**: Location data is **NOT** transmitted to our servers
- **Sharing**: Only shared with Google Maps service (subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy)
- **When Requested**: Only when you open location-based features
4. **READ_CONTACTS Permission**
- **Purpose**: To allow you to select contacts when creating vCard QR codes
- **Features**: QR Code Generator (vCard format)
- **Data Usage**: Contact information is read only when you explicitly choose to create a vCard QR code. The contact data is used locally to generate the QR code
- **Storage**: Contact information is **NOT** stored in our app
- **Transmission**: Contact information is **NOT** transmitted to our servers
- **When Requested**: Only when you choose to create a vCard QR code
5. **POST_NOTIFICATIONS Permission**
- **Purpose**: To send reminder notifications at scheduled times
- **Features**: Reminder feature, Todo reminders
- **Data Usage**: Used to display reminder notifications you set
- **When Requested**: On Android 13+ when you set a reminder
- **Note**: Reminders are scheduled using low-level alarm APIs that don't require special permissions
6. **WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE & READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Permissions**
- **Purpose**: To save generated QR codes to your device gallery (Android 9 and below only)
- **Features**: QR Code Generator (save to gallery)
- **Data Usage**: Only used to save QR code images to your Pictures folder
- **Storage**: QR code images are saved in standard Pictures/QRCode folder
- **Note**: Not used on Android 10+ (uses MediaStore API instead)
- **When Requested**: Only on Android 9 and below when you choose to save a QR code
7. **FLASHLIGHT Permission**
- **Purpose**: To control your device's flashlight/LED
- **Features**: Flashlight feature (including normal mode, blinking mode, SOS mode, and Music Reactive Mode)
- **Data Usage**: Used to turn flashlight on/off and synchronize with music beats. No data collected
- **Note**: When using Music Reactive Mode, the RECORD_AUDIO permission is also required to detect music beats
- **When Used**: When you use the Flashlight feature
8. **VIBRATE Permission**
- **Purpose**: To vibrate your device
- **Features**: Vibration tool, notification vibrations
- **Data Usage**: Used to control vibration. No data collected
9. **INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Permissions**
- **Purpose**: To load Google Maps, check network connectivity, and access barcode/product databases
- **Features**: Google Maps integration, Barcode Scanner
- **Data Usage**:
- Used for Google Maps functionality
- Used to query third-party barcode/product databases when you scan a barcode
- **Sharing**:
- Google Maps: Subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Barcode APIs: When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to third-party product databases to retrieve product information (see "Barcode Scanner Feature" section below)
10. **RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Permission**
- **Purpose**: To restore scheduled reminders after device restart
- **Features**: Reminder feature
- **Data Usage**: Used to reschedule reminders after reboot
- **Storage**: Reminder data stored locally on device only
11. **AD_ID Permission**
- **Purpose**: Required for Android 13+ when using Google AdMob to display advertisements
- **Data Usage**: Allows AdMob to use the Android Advertising ID to show personalized or non-personalized ads, and to measure ad performance
- **Control**: You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads)
### How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect **only** to:
1. **Provide App Features**: To enable all 27 utility features in the app
2. **Process Your Requests**: To generate QR codes, process measurements, etc.
3. **Maintain App Functionality**: To ensure the app works correctly
4. **Improve User Experience**: To fix bugs and enhance features (based on anonymized crash reports)
5. **Send Notifications**: To deliver reminder notifications you schedule
**We do NOT:**
- Sell your data to third parties
- Use your data for advertising directly (AdMob handles advertising independently)
- Share your data with third parties (except Google Maps and AdMob, subject to their respective policies)
- Track your activities across other apps (except as part of AdMob's advertising services)
- Build user profiles for marketing (AdMob may build profiles for ad targeting)
### Data Storage
#### Local Storage
- **All app data is stored locally on your device:**
- Todo list items
- Reminder settings
- App preferences (language, settings)
- Widget configurations
- Counter values
- Generated QR codes (if saved)
- Feature preferences (e.g., Light Warning feature acknowledgment status stored locally)
- **Data Location**: Stored in app's private directory (accessible only by the app)
#### Cloud Storage
- **We do NOT use cloud storage services**
- **We do NOT store your data on external servers**
- **We do NOT sync your data across devices**
#### Data Deletion
- **Uninstalling the app** will delete all locally stored data
- You can clear app data manually through device settings: Settings > Apps > Toolbox Mega > Storage > Clear Data
### Data Sharing
We **do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information** to third parties.
We may share information **only** in the following limited circumstances:
1. **Barcode Product Databases**:
- When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to third-party product databases to retrieve product information
- Only the barcode number (EAN/UPC code) is shared - no personal information is included
- These databases are free, publicly available services that provide product information
- We use multiple databases (28+) to maximize product information availability
- Each database may have its own privacy policy regarding how they handle barcode queries
- We do NOT control how these third-party databases use the barcode numbers you query
2. **Google Maps Service**:
- When you use the Maps feature, location data is shared with Google Maps
- Subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- We cannot control how Google uses this data
3. **Google Shopping**:
- When you search for a product from the Barcode Scanner, you are redirected to Google Shopping
- Your search query (barcode number and/or product name) is sent to Google Shopping
- Subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- We cannot control how Google Shopping uses your search data
4. **Google AdMob**:
- AdMob automatically collects data when ads are displayed in our app
- This includes device identifiers, approximate location, and app usage data

- We do not directly share your data with AdMob; AdMob collects it automatically through their SDK
- You can control ad personalization in your device settings
5. **Legal Requirements**:
- If required by law or in response to valid legal requests from public authorities
- To protect our rights or prevent fraud
6. **Service Providers** (if applicable in future):
- With trusted service providers who assist in operating the App (e.g., crash reporting services)
- All such providers are required to maintain confidentiality
### Barcode Scanner Feature
When you use the Barcode Scanner feature, the following applies:
#### Data Collection
- **Barcode Numbers**: When you scan a barcode, the barcode number (EAN/UPC) is extracted from the camera image
- **Camera Data**: Camera is used only to scan barcodes. Images are processed locally on your device and are never stored or transmitted
- **Product Information**: To provide product details, the barcode number is sent to multiple third-party product databases
#### Third-Party Product Databases
To retrieve product information (name, brand, category, image), we query the following free, publicly available product databases:
- Open Food Facts (https://world.openfoodfacts.org)
- Open Beauty Facts (https://world.openbeautyfacts.org)
- Open Pet Food Facts (https://world.openpetfoodfacts.org)
- UPCitemdb (https://www.upcitemdb.com)
- And 24+ other free product databases
#### Data Transmission
- **What is Sent**: Only the barcode number (EAN/UPC code) is sent to these databases
- **What is NOT Sent**:
- No personal information
- No device identifiers
- No location data
- No camera images
- No user profile information
- **Purpose**: To retrieve publicly available product information associated with the barcode
- **Storage**: We do NOT store barcode numbers or product information on our servers. All data is processed in real-time and displayed only on your device
#### Google Shopping Integration
- When you choose to search for a product on Google Shopping, you are redirected to Google Shopping website
- Your search query (barcode number and/or product name) is sent to Google Shopping
- Google Shopping's data collection and usage is subject to Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- We do NOT control how Google Shopping uses your search data
#### Your Control
- You can use the Barcode Scanner without searching on Google Shopping
- You can revoke camera permission at any time through device settings
- Barcode numbers are only sent when you actively scan a barcode
### Third-Party Services
#### Google Services
- **Google Maps**:
- Used for the Maps/Location feature
- Location data shared with Google Maps is subject to Google's Privacy Policy

#### Advertising Services
- **Google AdMob**:
- Our app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements
- AdMob may collect and use data for personalized advertising
- Data collected by AdMob may include:
- Device identifiers (Android Advertising ID)
- Approximate location (based on IP address)
- App usage data
- Device information (model, OS version)
- This data is used to show relevant ads and measure ad performance
- You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Reset advertising ID or Opt out of Ads Personalization

### Data Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- **Local Processing**: All data is processed locally on your device
- **Limited Network Transmission**:
- We transmit barcode numbers to third-party product databases when you scan barcodes (no personal information included)
- Location data is shared with Google Maps when you use Maps feature
- AdMob advertising services collect data automatically
- All other data processing occurs locally on your device
- **Secure Storage**: App data stored in secure app directory
- **No Backend Servers**: We do not operate servers that could be compromised
However, **no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure**. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
### Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
1. **Access**: Request information about what data we have
2. **Correction**: Request correction of inaccurate data
3. **Deletion**: Request deletion of your data (uninstall the app)
4. **Objection**: Object to processing of your data (revoke permissions)
5. **Portability**: Request your data in a portable format
**To exercise these rights:**
- **Revoke Permissions**: Go to Settings > Apps > Toolbox Mega > Permissions
- **Delete Data**: Uninstall the app or clear app data through device settings

### Children's Privacy
The App is **not intended for children under the age of 13** (or 16 in EU).
- We do **not knowingly collect** personal information from children under 13
- If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately
- If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately
### International Data Transfers
- **Most data processing occurs locally on your device**
- When you scan barcodes, **barcode numbers** may be sent to third-party product databases that can be hosted in different countries. Only the barcode number (EAN/UPC) is sent — no personal data, no device identifiers, no location data, and no camera images are included.
- When you use **Google Maps**, your location and related data may be transferred to Google's servers, which can be located in various countries, and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- When you use **Google Shopping** from within the Barcode Scanner feature, your search queries (barcode number and/or product name) may be transferred to Google's servers in other countries, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
### Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons.
**We will notify you of any changes by:**
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Posting a notice in the app (for significant changes)
- If significant changes are made, we may require you to accept the new policy
**Your continued use of the App after changes** constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
