IN THE SHADOW OF THE CLOCK TOWER
Released 01 September 2024
Genre - Progressive Rock
My first album which is a homage to Progressive Rock. Is now available on most music streaming platforms. All the tracks, even the instrumentals are crafted with stories. Below is a short synopsis on the stories.
Track 1 - At the Volcano's Edge - A couple are on an island when a volcano erupts. They have to get away as quick as possible, to reach the other side of the island and safety.
Track 2 - Memories of Birmingham - This could be about any City or Town. It's about someone visiting his old city, which brings back the memories of his childhood. He also realises how much the city has changed, but he's still fond of his birthplace.
Track 3 - A King Reflects - A king is in a candle lit room, he knows that his life is coming to an end. He reflects on what sort of a king he has been and starts to regret the way he has treated his subjects. The hunting horns line, is a reference that in his culture, when you're close to death you can hear the hunting horns calling. As he reflects, is he really sorry for his actions, or feeling sorry for himself? (released as a single)
Track 4 - In The Depths - Is an instrumental that takes you crashing on a fast adventure.
Track 5 - The Quest for the Fleece of Gold - Is the story of how Jason finally gets his hands on the Golden Fleece of myth and legend.
Track 6 - The Crafty Stoat - The chase is on between the stoat and the rabbit. But who will be the victor in this dance macabre?
Track 7 - The Voyage - Another instumental which is in two parts. The first is the sailing ship on it's explorations, battling the mighty Atlantic. The second is when the crew of the ship spies land, in the shape of a Pacific Island.
Track 8 - In the shadow of the Clock Tower - Old Father Time sits in the shadow of a clock tower. He looks around at the chaos that mankind is making. He reflects with a rye smile, that over the time we have not learnt by our mistakes. Indeed we seem destined to keep on making the same mistakes, over and over again.
