Who is Ferdowsi?

Hakim Abu ʾl-Qasim Ferdowsi Tusi (born 319 AH) is a renowned Iranian lecturer and the author of the Shahnameh of the Iranian National Epic. Shahnameh is the most famous of Ferdowsi's poems and one of the greatest writings of ancient Persian literature. Ferdowsi worked for nearly 15 years to complete it, and finished it in 372 AH.

The Shahnameh is an articulate poem composed of about 7,000 Verse(poetry) and has three historical, mythical, clerical periods.

He is considered the greatest Persian songwriter. Ferdowsi's name and reputation have been recognized and praised throughout the world. Ferdowsi's Shahnameh has been translated into many alive languages around the world.

In Iran, May 9th is called Ferdowsi's Day of Remembrance.

Ferdowsi was a patriotic lecturer. His enduring belief in the Shahnameh and especially in Ferdowsi's passion for praising Iran and the Iranian race is well-known.

Ferdowsi's tomb has been rebuilt and destroyed many times. Reports made by Iranian and foreign researchers in the last two centuries have highlighted The monument was covered with wheat, and at the beginning of the fourteenth AH century, and with the modern Iranian nationalism, efforts to build a decent Ferdowsi tomb were resumed.

The current area of the tomb complex is about six acres and includes a tomb garden, a pool and a statue of Ferdowsi by Abolhassan Sediqi in front of it, memorials, office buildings, libraries, museums and the tomb of Mehdi Akhavan Sales. The interior architecture of the building also includes tiles, prominent stone motifs from Shahnameh stories and there are stone inscriptions by Ferdowsi and others.

The shape of the tomb is influenced by the motifs of Persepolis and the tomb of Cyrus and the main tomb is made of marble.

The structure of the tomb is rectangular and has an area of 1000 square meters. The tomb consists of three main parts: the tomb, the hall and the staircase.
