I'm a first-year PhD student in Linguistics at UC Berkeley, advised by Amy Rose Deal. Before coming to Berkeley, I did a combined BA/MA in Linguistics at Yale, advised by Claire Bowern and Zoltán Szabó.

I'm a semanticist and fieldworker interested in cross-linguistic variation. On the theoretical side, my research has focused on gradability, comparison, and context-sensitivity. On the empirical side, my focus has been on Indigenous Australian languages, especially Pitjantjatjara, a Pama-Nyungan language from Central Australia.

My first name is pronounced [toˈmas] or [təˈmɑs]. My last name is pronounced [fuks lɪnt͡ʃ]. I use he/him pronouns.
