About
Sergeant At Arms (SAA) is the first role player who starts a Toastmasters meeting. The role of SAA is quite simple and short but equally important as other role players. He/She is the one who sets the tone of the entire meeting.
Guidelines
Energetic Entrance:
Begin the meeting with enthusiasm to set a positive tone.
Rules Reminder:
Emphasize club rules, including phone silence, avoiding sensitive topics, cross talks and entering/exiting during speeches.
Toastmasters Mission:
Read and communicate the mission of the Toastmasters club.
Introduction of Presiding Officer:
Introduce the presiding officer with relevant information.
Venue Setup:
Arrive early to set up the venue, including podium, recording, lights, mic, banners, and name tags.
Assist Organization Committee:
Support in tasks like snacks setup, calling members back after breaks, and greeting others.
SAA Script
''Good Morning fellow Toastmasters and dear guests, my name is _________ and I will be the SAA for today’s meeting. I welcome you all to the _________ meeting of the Millennium City Toastmasters club.
Before starting the meeting I would like to mention 3 ground rules that we follow in our Toastmasters meeting.
Please turn off your mobile phones or put them on Silent mode.
As Toastmasters, we don’t talk about sex, religion, and politics so please refrain from discussing these topics.
Please do not cross-talk.
As everybody in their life has a mission to achieve their Goals, likewise our Toastmasters club also has a mission. I request everyone to please stand up, raise your right hand forward and repeat after me -
The mission of our Toastmasters club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.
With this, I announce this meeting as open and hand over the stage to the presiding officer TM ___________."
