這學年，有三位外籍生加入斗家這個大家庭：來自哥倫比亞的丹妮、丹麥的浩宇（金髮）、 巴西的路易（黑髮） 。開學典禮時，我們已經聽過三位外籍同學的自我介紹，對他們有了基本認識。現在他們已經在台灣待了三個月，對台灣有甚麼想法呢？

A:I like the people here, the temples, food, night markets, the school, etc., but I don’t like stinky tofu!

A:That’s too many things! First, Colombia is much bigger than Taiwan, but there are no trains in Colombia. And we speak Spanish. Some Taiwanese customs are strange to me, we never take showers at night. Moreover, some Taiwanese usually burp or munching in public, it’s shocked me because that is a little not polite to do it while you’re eating. Also, we have a lot of parties in Colombia, but in Taiwan emm……

A:Taiwan is really different from Colombia, and I have a friend who is an exchange student from Taiwan. He told me how amazing Taiwan is! I also want to learn Chinese, it's a weird language, and not so many people speak in America, if I can speak that will be awesome!

A:With Rotary, I had to make a wish list of 5 countries I wanted to go to. I wished for New Zealand, Mexico, Australia, the U.S. and Taiwan. I have individual reasons for each country. But for Taiwan, the breaker was the enormous cultural difference. Denmark and Taiwan are very different in terms of everything except size. Another reason was also learning Chinese since almost no one in Europe can speak Chinese.

A:Yes, I have experienced a lot of culture shock especially the first 2 months. Everything is different, such as the way of living, nature, food, the way people act and the language. I knew it was going to be difficult but I knew I could handle it. This was also a reason for my exchange. Before going to Taiwan, I prepared harder than the other countries I could choose from. This is especially because of the language barrier. Mandarin Chinese being so different from what I know makes it much harder to learn. I believe there are several reasons for this. For example, the word doesn’t sound anything like other languages that I know. I think if you are from any part of Asia and start studying Chinese, it will be easier for you than if you are from Western countries. It's the same if I want to learn Finnish or Swedish, it will be easier for me because it sounds like what I'm used to. However, these are all bad excuses, and I believe I can still learn Chinese well!

A:I think my like to dislike ratio is about 50/50. I like half of the food, but when I like it, I think it's very good. I love black tea, but I hate green tea. My taste buds are weird. As for stinky tofu, to be honest, I think it's not that bad. The smell is horrendous, yes, but I think it's ok. I don't enjoy it right now, but maybe I will get used to it. Overall, I enjoy the food that I choose to eat and maybe I can bring some culture with me on my way home to Denmark by next July.7

A:It was a slowly transformation, and it was very significant. I don’t have any particular method because I think it’s decisive. After some weeks ,involuntarily,I began to understand how to do the things.

A:I like some kind of food, but I don’t like all kinda, I have preference to meat and rice, but I think that brazillian food is better, because sometimes the food is too much spice. But, I actually like the food in the night market,such as sweet potato balls,as to stinky tofu I really can’t accept it! It smells and tastes weird.Finally,I think this kind of particular culture is quite different from my country because in Brazil we don't have night market.
