The TiVo button at the top of your remote takes you to TiVo Central . from here you can access your most used features and recordings, and apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO GO, YouTube, and Pandora. And in some locations, you can also access on-demand content from XFINITY and Cox.

Longtime TiVo user moving over to Channels. As a trial, I installed the DVR on a 2018 MacMini (i5, 32GB, 512GB SSD) using existing Apple TV's for clients for the last month. I initially copied over the TiVo recordings from my Bolt DVR's and since have been recording everything in Channels. We have been running over the last month or so and everything working very well. Getting the Frndly Docker running was key as the family are big Hallmark users.

I've used Channels for years and love it. Also a Tivo refugee, as many others on here. That Mac Mini can handle anything you through at it. I have a 2010 i5 Mini that at one point I had 30TB of external drives, 2x quatro homeruns, TVE, Pluto, and was non uncommon to have 5-6 recordings at a time and several ATVs going. Didn't sweat it. I'm still using the Mini for Channels, but moved the storage to a Synolgy DS1522+. I try to record everythign we might watch so I can avoid commercials. And we have accumulated a nice movie library having jumped around with antenna, Hulu Live, Youtube TV, Spectrum, Pluto, and a few others. The user interface and DVR are a constant for the family so they love it.

Thank you, that confirms my short-term experience re: Mac mini. I am going to move some Channels recordings to the NAS to see if I can stream files from there as I have plenty of space available and a robust internal network, but don't mind if more effective to replace/add the 1TB SSD I have directly attached to the mini.

The TiVo's main advantage compared to live TV streaming subscriptions with cloud DVRs like YouTube TV and DirecTV Now is that it's a hardware solution. Your live TV and recordings are kept within reach, not susceptible to the outages and buffering.

The Bolt OTA is able to hold up to 150 hours of HD programs on its 1TB hard drive, and comes with the now -standard 14-day guide to schedule recordings. It's a 1080p recorder but it will also stream 4K-ready content from compatible apps including Netflix. If you run out of recording space there is an e-SATA port to add additional storage if needed. Other connections include HDMI, coax antenna, optical digital, 3.5mm analog, Ethernet and two USB ports. There is also a handy remote finder button on the rear.

The apps on offer include Netflix (with a dedicated button on the new remote), Hulu, Plex, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. Sadly, there is no access to live TV streaming services, which would help bolster the local options with cable channels. The Bolt OTA offers the ability to stream recordings via the TiVo mobile app, though I personally have had limited success with that (with either the Roamio OTA or the Bolt OTA). You can also control the box via Amazon Alexa, though the number of commands is currently limited.

My only wish is that for a device designed to record OTA TV that it didn't lean so heavily on streaming. For instance, the voice search is fun, but the results get clogged up with Prime Video entries instead of shows you might want to record. Also, the "My Shows" watch list incorporates both streaming and recordings while you need to go down to Recordings before they are separated out.

Also is there any way to change the status of multiple TiVo recordings from keep until space needed to "Keep Until I Delete"? There are a LOT of recordings that I want to back up to the ReadyNas, but I need to set them all to Keep Until I Delete since they were not recorded with this option. Doing this one by one will take a long time.

We received word from TiVo that they have launched a new featured aimed at customer who are upgrading their TiVo. If you have a Series3, Series4 (Premiere), Series5 (Roamio) or Series6 (Bolt), you can now bulk transfer recordings from the old TiVo to the new. No more one-by-one transfers!

The Bolts can also stream TiVo content across the internet to your mobile devices and you can watch live TV or stream your recordings. You can even download recorded shows to your devices to watch while you're away from internet service.

Some models manufactured by Toshiba, Pioneer, and Humax, under license from TiVo, contain DVD-R/RW drives. The models can transfer recordings from the built-in hard drive to DVD Video-compliant discs, playable in most modern DVD systems. The video encoding on these models was modified to match the DVD standard so transferring to DVD does not require transcoding.

As programming is recorded on your TiVo DVR, tap on the My Shows icon to manage those recorded shows or watch them on your TV (or stream/download them to your mobile device). Next, tap on the On DVR tab to manage recordings stored within the TiVo DVR, or tap on the On iPhone/iPad tab to manage programming that was previously downloaded from the TiVo to your mobile device (and now accessible from the TiVo mobile app).

Bolt Vox brings the power and convenience of voice control to the TiVo experience. Just push the blue "Voice" button on the Vox remote, say your command and let TiVo do the rest. You can search across live TV, your DVR recordings, and streaming apps.

TiVo Service: A TiVo service plan is required. You can choose from a Monthly Plan, Annual Plan, or All-In Plan. Go totivo.com/activate, or call TiVo Customer Support at 1-877-367-8486. You'll need your 15-digit TiVo Service Number (TSN), found on the label on the back of the TiVo Bolt Vox.

TiVo Mobile App: Control the TiVo Bolt Vox (500GB) with the free TiVo mobile app forApple iOS 8.0+ andAndroid OS 4.0+ devices. The TiVo mobile app lets you use your tablet or smartphone as your TiVo remote control - find and explore shows, schedule recordings, control live TV & recorded shows, plus more. With the TiVo mobile app, you're also able to stream live & recorded shows, as well as TiVo compatible online content from your TiVo Bolt Vox directly to your mobile device from within your home network and outside of your home network. If you have the Netflix or YouTube app installed on your Apple iOS or Android device, you can even cast shows and videos directly to the TiVo Bolt Vox and your connected TV from within the TiVo mobile application.

Auto-Recording TiVo Suggestions: When the TiVo box has available space, it automatically records TiVo Suggestions (based on your ratings & viewing habits). However, you don't need to worry about recorded Suggestions taking up your space. TiVo Suggestions never replace shows you record, or prevent your shows from being recorded. TiVo Suggestions are always the first shows deleted to make room for your recordings. This feature can be turned on or off.

One major benefit to using TiVo over just watching content with a normal antenna is you get access to content just about anywhere. TiVo searches across live TV, recordings, and popular streaming service to deliver personalized recommendations for you. You will also be able to stream and download recorded shows to your phone or tablet for mobile viewing. There are also TiVo Minis that you can place around your home for a multi-room viewing solution.

TiVo BOLT OTA combines OTT and OTA, giving consumers seamless access on one user interface to top streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, as well as commercial free HDTV programming. TiVo will search across live TV, recordings and popular streaming services to deliver personalized results. Plus, they can stream and download shows to their mobile devices, watch their favorite content on-the-go, or schedule recordings almost anywhere with the free TiVo app or add a TiVo Mini for a multi-room, whole-home TV solution.

All my series recordings are working fine and no playback problems really, once in a while a glitch, but were streaming and depending on home internet. So no telling if that was the real cause maybe as I have problems occasionally on other apps as its streaming.

The DVR service approach is a work-in-progress for many providers and most always has limits for programming storage. If you exceed them, you pay extra. YouTube TV offers the longest storage period at nine months before it begins deleting the oldest recordings. ff782bc1db
