LinesTrail, available on the Chrome Web Store: Play now! ...And online: Play in your browser!
This is the part of the page where a lot of people advertise how good their product is, but me, nah.... I'll just tell you about the making of my product: LinesTrail.
LinesTrail started out as a game called "Interactive", well, it wasn't really a game, more a test program about listening to events via the event listener in JavaScript. You see, I was learning some HTML before the making of this game so, I downloaded a snake game from GitHub as an example for me to learn from. I wanted to recreate the snake game I downloaded but with a twist. I don't know where this game idea came from, but I still did it: Make a snake game but the snake isn't a snake but a square that leaves a trail behind.
When the original idea was put into practise, I watched some YouTube as a break, when I stumbled upon a video about Chrome Packaged Apps. I decided to publish the game on the Chrome Web Store.
After all that happened, the app didn't get a lot of downloads but a lot of impressions. I realised that the Chrome Web Store didn't support other operating systems than Chrome OS. To fix this, I just uploaded the game to Newgrounds as well, so that people could play LinesTrail despite of their OS.
I was at the time an owner of a Chromebook. Chromebooks at the time didn't have much access to great games. There were lots of games, but most of them weren't even packaged up, they loaded on the website. I wanted to make a game that at least, I would like. Maybe other people will like it as well, but the main purpose of this game was that fact that I, the developer, would like it.
Yes, this game is more part of a private archive of games of mine, but I decided to publish it just to share it with others, anyways what was there to lose?
We wanted the game to be more accessible to the world and we realised that we haven't done anything in the mobile market yet, so... We are currently working on an Android version of this title.
Still empty... :(
