The Tinmouth Pond Milfoil Project (TPMP), is a largely a volunteer effort to control the invasive aquatic weed- Eurasion Water Milfoil in Timouth Pond (also called Chipman Lake). The Tinmouth Milfoil project aims to keep the waters of Tinmouth Pond, and in turn, the Tinmouth Channel Wildlife Management Area-a Class I Wetland, in Tinmouth, Vermont as healthy as possible by doing our best to eradicate the invasive species, Eurasian Milfoil and any other invasive species harmful to this fragile ecosystem.
Keeping Tinmouth Pond as an healthy ecosystem for its flora and fauna allows many to enjoy the recreational pastimes on the lake year round. The Project’s mission is to conduct an effective management, prevention, and educational program for the health of the pond ecosystem.
TPMP members seek to foster greater understanding of the importance of Tinmouth Pond as an integral part of the community of Tinmouth, with significant impact upon the critical ecosystem of the Tinmouth Channel Wildlife Management Area and downstream destinations as well as the economic impact on the town of Tinmouth.
The project’s goal is to preserve its ecological, recreational, and economic value to present and future generations. The TPMP improves the lake environment through a multi-pronged approach of education, homeownership participation, and professional diver-assisted suction harvesting by www.aecommercialdiving.com.
The funds we receive from donations go directly to helping to pay for our divers and any upgrades of equipment, and for the cost of our yearly aquatic survey.
