Painting of a Girl on a Swing by Rita Hillis
I remember the sun on the plains
How it burned the ever-long day
Big blue sky calling my name
Big blue sky carry me away!
I'm off to a swing
under an old oak
I kick my feet.
I point my toes.
And I'm swinging, day dreaming
Time for me.
After the long day,
after the fuss,
after supper,
before us,
Fireflies and lighting illuminating dusk
A twister, sweeping wide, kicking up dust
(This song was originally titled "Painting of a Girl on Swing.")
It is inspired by the art and stories of Rita Hillis.

I'm heading out to our little garden
Maybe you can come along, too.
I bet some of those flowers are blooming
Maybe we could eat some food
I'll be there early in the morning
I'll be there in the afternoon
I'll be there even if it's raining
I'll be there if the skies are blue
I love dirt! I love the earth! (and you)
We'll find a little house on the corner of the street with a big backyard and a tulip tree.
We'll have a little boy as cute as can be. Teach him how to love. Teach him how to read.
That's you and me, a big backyard and a tulip tree
You! You are loved.

Dear son, do you ever dream of moonlight evergreens on the high desert, the plateau? If so, let love lead you down an old dirt road. Let love lead you down the road where the air is electric and the air is alive. And the stars still shine brighter than street lights. And I'm by your side, so you can guide me through the night.
Long after my last night, I'm by your side.
Some moments last your whole life and others never arrive in time. You were here, before you were alive: the sun shining on my shoulders, my child.

When I woke up, I was in the scene.
I put my coin into the Big Machine.
Please be all you can be for me, The Big Machine.
What do you do--they're gonna ask me--
Not for Love, for the economy.
Please be all you can be for me, the Big Machine.
We have standards we've gotta keep,
Norms to follow, goals to reach.
If you've a purpose, it came from me.
There's no way out of the Big Machine.
Please be all you can be for me, the Big Machine.

Ice caps will melt. Cities will drown. Deserts will spread. Famine, no bread. What can you do?
Coral reefs bleached, forests aflame--the sunset you love is now just a smokey haze.
What can you do ? It is what it is. Don't be a bore, we've been here before, but hey, how's that kid?
Ma's store is gone. What will be next? And every town looks like the one that you just left.
So get in your car and get on a plane. Go see that place! It's beautiful, yes, and it's going away.
What can you do? It is what it is. Our way of life is a burden on our poor kids. Our poor kids.
Even though sometimes it feels like we're faking it; Moving everything around just to make it fit. Hands up! We're locked in to the ride, but I never thought to take a look inside.
but I ought . . . yeah, I ought to . . .I know I ought to . . .I really ought to.

You want to be the one to make it right, take care of years of cheating and lying, be real and open their eyes. We're fighting a war, fighting for their minds. But you never know you better get it in writing, because some will forget, and others won't buy in. Cause they're never more than what they are forced to be, and they don't care about your reverie.
Too much is never enough.
Sometimes it feels like you're paid to hurt, and the more you try, the more it gets worse. And then you're no more than what you're forced to be and there's no love and there's no reverie.
Too much is never enough.
I want to see the last leaf leaving from the maple in the backyard. Pardon me, it's just the season, the cold conrete, and the stars. It's just the substitute for a feeling. It's just a temporary scar.
Forget what I said, I didn't mean it. I'm sure you know just who you are. Because You're always more than you're forced to be. And then there's your love and your reverie.
Too much is never enough.

A ghost without a story, a struggle to exist I've got a problem only I can fix witness a true crime someone broke the news dream of a shining sunrise long over due
TELL ME WHO I AM! Yeah.
I NEED TO KNOW
HOW DID THEY LIVE
AND WHERE DID THEY GO?
picking up the phone everyone has their own nobody's talking and never felt more unknown picked up over the years think I'm getting the gist we've got all fingers but cannot make a fist
Woke up today, just like I did yesterday, I’m in pain, lots of pain, its hard for me to breath. I just need to drink a pot of coffee and go back to sleep; I just need to drink a pot of coffee, take a pain killer and go back to sleep.

Woke up again. It seems just like yesterday. Why does this all suck so much. Why is everything such a lame way to be. I’m so tired of me. Here I am again telling everyone the same old story
Reaching forward. Darkest Cave. Gonna Make something change.
Click the mouse.
Hero clicks the mouse.
Yet again we’re back at this same old bullshit. Don’t know why I’m doing it, but here I am, yes, yet again. You think some day I’d move along, not keep singing the same old song, but here I am yet again doing all the same old things and telling you everything!
Reaching forward. Darkest Cave. Gonna Make something change.
Click the mouse.
Hero clicks the mouse.

You don't need me.
Not like you did.
Not like before.
I see you flying.
I'm a witness.
Not much more.
I know that's just the way it goes.
I need to let go, so you can grow.
You used to cling to me.
You used to be my shadow, my whole world.
Now you're moving on,
and I'm left wondering: Where did you go?
Art by Andy Hillis
All your life you have put everyone before yourself.
You don't what you want; You don't what you need.
Wherever you go (are), there you are (go)
You know you can come to me if I'm the one you need,
and you know you can be free.
I hope you come to me
Art by Andy Hillis
Waking up it's alright
I'm gonna be there soon
Living without a second guess
Until the afternoon
I guess I just need someone to be there
To say hello when I arrive
Maybe I just need someone to talk to
Someone who knows that I’m alive
If there is no decision to make
If there is no code to break
If we’re just in a lock and step
We can’t move our fate
Art by Andy Hillis
Hey, I love you.
That's all I do.
Every day, I love you.
There are some things I don't want to do,
but I can do them to get back to you.
