3. EXPLANATION OF PERMISSIONS & WHY THEY ARE NEEDED
Google Chrome requires extensions to declare permissions for browser APIs they interact with. Below is a complete and friendly breakdown of each requested permission:
a) "storage"
• Why it is needed:
To save your chosen timezone setting (for example, "America/New_York") and whether the spoofing toggle is switched ON or OFF.
• How it is handled:
All preferences are saved directly to your browser's local sandbox using the standard `chrome.storage.local` API. This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded anywhere.
b) Host Permissions / Content Scripts ("<all_urls>")
• Why it is needed:
The core function of this extension is to allow websites you visit to detect your chosen timezone rather than your real operating system clock. To achieve this, the extension must inject a tiny, lightweight script at document start into the web pages you navigate to. Without this match pattern, the extension would not be able to override Date and Intl APIs across your visited websites.
• What it DOES NOT do:
The extension does not read website content, does not log keystrokes, does not intercept passwords, does not read form inputs, and does not alter network traffic. It only provides simulated return values for JavaScript time queries (such as `Date.prototype.getTimezoneOffset` and `Intl.DateTimeFormat`).

4. ARE ALL OF THESE PERMISSIONS REALLY NECESSARY?
YES, and this configuration represents the ABSOLUTE MINIMAL PERMISSION SET POSSIBLE for this functionality:
• Can "storage" be avoided?
Without "storage", your selected timezone would reset to the default every time you close the popup or restart the browser. "storage" is strictly required to remember your configuration locally.
• Can "<all_urls>" (content script match) be avoided?
Because users visit various websites where they wish to have their timezone emulated (such as Google Meet, Zoom, international tools, or privacy checkers), the content script must match the URLs you browse. If restricted to a single domain, it would only work on that single domain.
• What dangerous permissions did we AVOID?
To protect you, we deliberately avoided all high-risk or invasive permissions:
❌ NO "debugger" permission (which is intrusive and triggers annoying browser warnings).
❌ NO "webRequest" or "declarativeNetRequest" permissions (we do not inspect or modify your network packets).
