(note this has been consistent on 2 other macs in our office all having the same issue with the Mac's system times.dfont - PS: not that I'm advocating people to start using Times font, but just found this interesting...)

I am trying to use latex as TickLabelInterprete in Matlab. I want to bold both the x-axis (where I use the x-ticklabel along with latex syntax) and y-axis (nothing used, just normal text). At the same time, I want to set the font of all the texts on the figure to be Times New Roman.

I am attaching my code as follows. It appears to be strange for me, when I do not set the TickLabelInterprete to be latex, everything is fine, I can bold the y-axis easily (both y-label and the number on the y-axis). But when TickLabelInterprete = 'latex', the number on the y-axis will automatically turn back to normal font. Any suggestions?

Asked to advise on a redesign, Morison recommended that The Times change their text typeface from a spindly nineteenth-century face to a more robust, solid design, returning to traditions of printing from the eighteenth century and before. This matched a common trend in printing tastes of the period. Morison proposed an older Monotype typeface named Plantin as a basis for the design, and Times New Roman mostly matches Plantin's dimensions. The main change was that the contrast between strokes was enhanced to give a crisper image. The new design made its debut in The Times on 3 October 1932. After one year, the design was released for commercial sale. In Times New Roman's name, Roman is a reference to the regular or roman style (sometimes also called Antiqua), the first part of the Times New Roman family to be designed. Roman type has roots in Italian printing of the late 15th and early 16th centuries, but Times New Roman's design has no connection to Rome or to the Romans.

The roman style of Plantin was loosely based on a metal type created in the late sixteenth century by the French artisan Robert Granjon and preserved in the collection of the Plantin-Moretus Museum of Antwerp.[8][9][10][11] This style is sometimes categorised as part of the "old-style" of serif fonts (from before the eighteenth century).[12][13][14][c] (The 'a' of Plantin was not based on Granjon's work: the Plantin-Moretus Museum's type had a substitute 'a' cut later.[16]) Indeed, the working title of Times New Roman was "Times Old Style".[15]

Rather than creating a companion boldface with letterforms similar to the roman style, Times New Roman's bold has a different character, with a more condensed and more upright effect caused by making the horizontal parts of curves consistently the thinnest lines of each letter, and making the top serifs of letters like 'd' purely horizontal.[30] This effect is not found in sixteenth-century typefaces (which, in any case, did not have bold versions); it is most associated with the Didone, or "modern" type of the early nineteenth century (and with the more recent 'Ionic' styles of type influenced by it that were offered by Linotype, discussed below).[20][31][32][33][34] Some commentators have found Times' bold unsatisfactory and too condensed, such as Walter Tracy.[29]

Also known as Times New Roman World, this is originally based on the version of Times New Roman bundled with Windows Vista.[113] It includes fonts in WGL character sets, Hebrew and Arabic characters. Similar to Helvetica World, Arabic in italic fonts are in roman positions.[clarification needed]

I understand the importance of having the perfect embroidery font to elevate your design, which is why I offer a vast array of options to choose from. My machine embroidery fonts are available in BX, PES, DST, HUS, EXP, JEF, VIP, VP3 and XXX file formats, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your machine. Whether you are looking for a small embroidery font for a delicate project or a bold font for a statement piece, I have something for everyone.

Generally, the difference should not be noticeable except to the keen eye.

But Mac Word 2008 enables ligatures and advanced typesetting if the font

contains them. So you will sometimes see some changes.Microsoft released a matcher for TNR named Cambria with Office 2007/8. This

is one of the "C-series" fonts (their names all begin with "C") that was

carefully engineered to look as close as possible to the same on both Mac

and PC.Give it a try: it's a nicer looking font than TNR :-)Cheers

The PDF format defines 14 standard fonts that can be used in PDF documents. PDFKit supports each of them out of the box.Besides Symbol and Zapf Dingbats this includes 4 styles (regular, bold, italic/oblique, bold+italic) of Helvetica,Courier, and Times. To switch between standard fonts, call the font method with the corresponding Label:

The issue is that we are seeing, in Production the fonts in the PDF generated are switching to AdobeSongStd.ttf instead of times.ttf. Once we restart the jboss by clearing the cache files (tmp and work folders in unix) the times.ttf is being used again which is the expected fonts. After a few random days, the fonts are going back to AdobeSongStd. Every time the jboss is restarted the fonts switch back to times.ttf.

I can see that Jboss is extracting these jar files having the fonts on to the tmp cache folder and I am assuming it then uses the fonts from there. However we are not able to understand why jboss/pd4ml is not using the times.ttf font and why it is using AdobeSongStd.ttf file instead. Also we do not know why the times.ttf is fetched properly when we do a jboss restart after clearing cache.

The typeface is includeed via the already mentioned mathptmx package. There is also a times package, but its use is generally not recommended. Because it not only sets the serif font, but also the sans serif font and typewriter font. However, the sans serif font Helvetica is not adapted to Times and no suitable math font is included (see [Schmidt 2004, p.8]). The mathptmx package only adjusts the serif font and provides the appropriate font for math (see [Schmidt 2004, p.5]).

2. Unlike Word processors, bold is not an available option when editing text in Nitro. For example, if you are using Calibri and you want to make a section bold, you have to swap to the 'Calibri-Bold' font. To do this, click on the Edit tool, then select the text. The format tab will appear and here you can change the font type using the dropdown menu. Kindly refer to the screenshot attached.

Note that various font attributes, such as weight and slant, can be builtinto the font name. Unfortunately, the syntax varies depending on which fontsystem is dominant. Thus, using fontname="times bold italic" will produce abold, slanted Times font using Pango, the usual main font library.Alternatively, fontname="times:italic" will produce a slanted Times font fromfontconfig, while fontname="times-bold" will resolve to a bold Times usingQuartz. You will need to ascertain which package is used by your Graphvizsystem and refer to the relevant documentation.

With the first mergefield I just merge text as normal where you can see the bullets and numbers have the wrong font height.

With the second mergefield I use a before switch on the mergefield with a label which I put in bold. All the html gets merged in bold. This used to work as expected. Only the label would be bold and the merged html would maintain the normal style.

EDIT

It seems the bullets and numbers font height is solved in Aspose 14.7.0, I was using 14.6.0. The bold before however is still a problem.
