Who won? In the short term, BTW became the most dominant African American leader, receiving support from white politicians and celebrities. As time went on, Dubois' new organization, the NAACP, would become the most significant agent of advancement for blacks in America. The debate about the best strategy to advance civil rights continues today (cf. Candace Owens v. Angela Davis).
