Effective date: July 26, 2026
Tilely is a photo sliding-puzzle app for iPhone and iPad, made by Vinh Nguyen ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: we don't collect anything ourselves, and your photos never leave your device — but the free version shows ads, and Google's ad software collects data to serve them.
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data, and we operate no servers of our own.
Your photos and puzzles stay on your device. They are never uploaded, never used for advertising, and never shared — not with Google, not with anyone.
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data to serve and measure them. See "Advertising" below.
Tilely Pro removes all ads. Nothing on this page about advertising applies while Pro is active.
Within the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, ads are only personalized if you consent — and you can change that choice at any time.
Tilely turns photos into puzzles entirely on your device:
Picking a photo uses Apple's system photo picker, which runs outside the app — Tilely never gets access to your photo library, only to the one image you choose.
Taking a photo (optional) uses the camera with your permission; the shot goes straight into the puzzle and is not added to your photo library.
The app keeps a private, on-device copy of each puzzle's picture so your puzzles work offline and survive restarts. Deleting a puzzle deletes its copy; deleting the app deletes everything.
Saving a replay video asks for add-only photo library access — the app can put a video into your library but can never read, browse, or see anything already there.
No photo, video, or any derivative of them ever leaves your device.
The app keeps the following only on your device:
Puzzles — the shuffled board, your progress, your move history (for the replay), and the puzzle's picture.
Settings — theme, haptics, tile numbers, replay speed, and similar preferences.
You can delete any puzzle inside the app, or remove all app data by deleting the app.
The free version of Tilely shows ads supplied by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). Ads appear in three places: a banner below the board while a puzzle is open, a full-screen ad after a finished puzzle, and an optional video you can choose to watch in exchange for a single hint. Buying Tilely Pro removes all advertising.
To serve, cap, and measure ads, Google's advertising software collects and processes information from your device, including:
device and app identifiers, such as the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, along with a non-personal app-instance identifier if you don't,
device information — model, operating system version, language, and coarse location derived from your IP address (we never request precise location),
ad interaction data — which ads were shown, whether they were viewed or tapped, and whether an ad was fraudulent or invalid.
We never send Google your photos, your puzzles, or anything derived from them. Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects for advertising; its handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Advertising Policies. We do not receive any of it in a form that identifies you — only aggregate earnings and performance figures.
Tracking. iOS asks for your permission before the app can use the Advertising Identifier to track you across apps. If you decline, ads still appear but are not personalized. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland). Before any ad loads, we show Google's certified consent form covering advertising purposes and Google's ad partners.
Remove ads entirely. Purchase Tilely Pro. Ads stop immediately and no further ad requests are made.
A hint earned by watching a video is granted only on your device, and is not stored or reported anywhere. Watching a video tells us nothing about you.
Tilely Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. There is no subscription and nothing renews. We never see your payment details. The app only learns, on your device, whether Pro is active so it can unlock features. Refunds are handled by Apple.
If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers (an iOS-level setting), Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized statistics such as download counts or crash reports. These contain no photos, no puzzle data, and nothing that identifies you.
Tilely is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Because the free version serves advertising, it is not intended for use by children under 13; ads are not requested with child-directed treatment.
If the app's behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change ships.
