A bhāṣya or ṭīkā is a condensed form of wisdom of a paramparā the ṭīkākāra (author of the ṭīkā) belongs to. Our wisdom tradition has produced a great number of ṭīkās. These ṭīkās allow us to really see the world from the points of view of great siddhas and sat-puruṣas. They also develop our cognitive power and logic required for laukika dealings. Realising the value to the community, the kings and others patronised the traditional scholars in olden days. After a drop in patronage in the last few centuries, the Hindu tigers are waking up to the need to support the scholars to keep our wisdom tradition alive.
We are a team of śāstra sevakas (humble servants of śāstra) who want to revive the didactic traditions of Bhārata. We want to apply technology to this end so as to reach out to aspiring scholars. Our team which is expanding by the day composes of people from various backgrounds.
Our Vision:
To bring to the public - literature, Bhāṣyas and Ṭīkās already in book or manuscript form as searchable text.
Help scholars republish works in manuscript form and thereby preserve them online.
To publish translations of important works.
Bring out well annotated Ṭīkā and Bhāṣya texts for ease of learning.
To provide a platform where concordance can be established easily.
Help Sanskrit students of intermediate proficiency attain higher levels
Our Published works and Goals:
We are in the process of republishing important ṭīkās on Nārāyaṇīyam, Kṛṣṇakarṇāmṛtam, Rāmāyaṇam, Mahābhāratam and so on. By helping scholars republish works, we preserve rare texts and are making them easy to read through annotation. We are also creating searchable indices for texts for the convenience of scholars and general public who may want to look up a particular topic. In addition to basic search, we also provide an ability to find concordance, i.e., occurrence of a word across texts and the linkages. Our efforts help sanskrit students and scholars improve their language profciency.
Our translations make the ancient wisdom accessible to those not well versed in Sanskrit. Our aim is to continue the work of our fore- fathers in continuing the tradition of sharing knowledge bhagavat prītyartham and as sevā to āstikās.

Your participation
We request you to be part of our community by contributing your time, knowledge and money. You may take up OCR, editing, typing tasks or website development and maintenance. Most importantly, we want scholars to concentrate on their work rather than their maintenance.
Our team of vidvāns has been supported by friends such as Śrī Ajit. He, despite his personal commitments as a middle class person contributed INR 5 Lakh. This is greatly worthy of appreciation and we are extremely grateful to him and pray to bhagavān for his śreyas. His contribution helped us get started with our digitization efforts. Each one of us can contribute yathā śakti to help vidvāns promote our traditional knowledge.
There is nothing more valuable to us than sponsoring a vidvān's effort for an year. If interested, please reach out to us on j@tiikaaloka.org
