1. Who We Are

Aurelo is developed by Javika Studio, based in India. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information Aurelo accesses, how it is used, and your rights. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Aurelo mobile application.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Aurelo does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• We do not create user accounts

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any identity information

• We do not use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no Amplitude)

• We do not use advertising SDKs

• We do not send your screen time data to our servers or any third party

• We do not track your location

3. Data Stored On Your Device

Aurelo reads and stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Screen time and app usage statistics — read from Android's UsageStatsManager API and stored in encrypted local storage

• App categories, locked apps, hidden apps, and timer settings — stored in encrypted SharedPreferences on your device

• Focus session history, streak data, and goal settings — stored locally in SharedPreferences

• Widget usage patterns (Smart Routine) — stored locally to provide home screen recommendations

• Your optional display name — stored locally, used only for personalised greetings

All data remains on your device. It is never transmitted off your device by Aurelo.

4. Permissions Explained

• Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Required to read which apps you use and for how long. This data stays on your device.

• Post Notifications: Used to send on-device smart alerts about screen time and streaks. Notifications are generated entirely on-device — no server is involved.

• Exact Alarm (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Required for Focus Schedules and Bedtime Mode to trigger at precise times.

• Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): Required to show the focus block overlay on top of blocked apps.

• Do Not Disturb Access (ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY): Required for Bedtime Mode to enable DND mode automatically.

• Internet Access: Used exclusively to connect to Google Play Billing for subscription purchases, and to fetch app metadata from the Google Play Store for the Pro auto-categorisation feature. No usage data is sent over this connection.

5. In-App Purchases & Billing

Aurelo offers optional Pro subscriptions (monthly, annual, lifetime) through Google Play Billing. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google. Javika Studio does not see, store, or process your payment card details. Your purchase status (Pro or free) is verified locally via Google Play.

6. Children's Privacy

Aurelo is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has used Aurelo, please note that no personal data is collected or stored outside the device. You may delete all App data by using the 'Clear All Data' option in Settings or by uninstalling the App.

7. Data Security

All data stored by Aurelo on your device is encrypted using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences (AES-256). Data is never stored unencrypted on disk.

8. Third-Party Services

Aurelo integrates only with:

• Google Play Billing — for subscription management. Google's Privacy Policy applies to the billing transaction: https://policies.google.com/privacy

• Android UsageStatsManager API — a built-in Android system API, governed by Google/Android's policies

• Google Play Store (jsoup / metadata scraping) — used exclusively by Pro users for automatic app categorisation. Only publicly available app metadata is fetched. No personal data is transmitted.

No other third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, or advertising networks are used.

9. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all Aurelo data at any time by:

• Using the 'Clear All Data' option in Settings — this permanently resets all categories, limits, streaks, goals, and configurations

• Uninstalling the App — this removes all locally stored data from your device

Please note that data deletion is permanent and irreversible. Javika Studio maintains no server-side backups and cannot recover deleted data on your behalf.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), 2023, where applicable. Any disputes relating to this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via an in-app notification for any material changes. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
