The road to the fourteenth edition is over thanks to Erika Vikman. Au revoir France!
It is the first time that France has hosted the contest. The bidding phase for the host city of the fourteenth edition has begun.
NBC declined to host the contest again after previously hosting the 8th and 9th editions back to back. However, NBC did suggest giving France Télévisions the opportunity to organise the contest, which both France Télévisions and the TBU agreed upon.
We Are One
Following its hugely successful use by NBC in the ninth edition, it was agreed by CBC and the TBU Reference Group (the Contest governing board) during the last edition, to use We Are One as the slogan for all successive contests from this edition onwards.
Six Become Five
The TBU Reference Group (the Contest governing board) decided in a meeting on the day of the 13th edition's results that the Big 6 would be evolving into the Big 5, who instead of being comprised of the previous edition's top 6 countries; would now be comprised of the 5 countries with the highest average number of points over the contest's continuing history.
Purcell & Gossuin
American television host and model Athena Purcell and French beauty pageant titleholder and television host Élodie Gossuin were announced as presenters of the 14th edition on 21 June 2024.
Athena had previously hosted the ninth edition, held in Pittsburgh, and the tenth edition, held in Stockholm. Both Athena and Élodie were spokespersons for the United States and France respectively in the previous edition, which was held in Toronto.
Bienvenue en Montpellier!
The TBU Reference Group on 24 June 2024 revealed that the Sud de France Arena in Montpellier, France would be our venue. A beautiful city along the Mediterranean Sea, Montpellier is home to historic architecture and one of the oldest universities in the world. On 20 and 27 July, it will be the latest city to play host to the TiBB Music Festival.
Viva Cicciolina!
At the end of the voting, Finland was announced to have won the 14th edition with 282 points. Erika Vikman won the trophy, and took it home to Helsinki for the next edition.
