Materials Needed:
Scotch “Spray Mount” (Can be found on Amazon, at Walmart, or Office Depot)
Poster Boards (1 per category)
Colored slips/questions per table (All tables need to be a different color)
Directions:
Assign each table a different color and give them a bag with their colored slips in it. Next, place the poster boards with the categories on the whiteboard or in a neutral location. Holding the can about 6 inches away, spray all over the poster boards with the Scotch Spray Mount making the poster boards sticky like a post it note. When you say “go” the kids will open the bags and try to determine which poster board the specific slip belongs on. When they decide, they run it up to the board and slap it on the poster they think it fits on. Then they return to their table and continue working. (You can say only one kid from each table can be “running” at a time and that will encourage more discussion from the team about where something goes.)
The teacher stands at the whiteboard the entire time. Walking from poster to poster, if any slip is on the wrong poster board, peel it off, and drop it on the ground. That color table is then responsible to come grab the slip from the ground and discuss where it goes. Continue doing this until one group has all of their slips correctly placed. At this point in time the game ends and that table is the winner.
FAQs and Tips:
This game works best in my opinion when you want kids to sort things or something like that.
You can require them to write something on the slip before putting it on a poster board. Example: Their slips have a bunch of vocabulary words on them. They must write a sentence using the word before running it up to the board and placing it on the poster that correctly matches the Era the word is from.
