Directions:
1. Display the PowerPoint and hand out the response paper. Make sure every student has a response paper and can see the screen.
2. Rank the items! Display the first ranking slide and have students silently rank each item from their favorite to least favorite by writing them in order on their paper. No peeking or comparing answers yet!
3. Find your ranking twins! Once everyone has finished, start the 30-second timer. Students will move around the room and compare their rankings, trying to find classmates who ranked every item in the exact same order.
4. Score points for every exact match! Each time students find someone with an identical ranking, they earn 1 point. If even one item is in a different spot, it doesn’t count.
5. Repeat and compete! Move on to the next slide and play another round. Keep track of points throughout the game. The player with the most points at the end wins!
FAQs and Tips:
Rounds with only 3 options are generally easier for students to find an exact match. Rounds with 4 or more options are more challenging and make exact matches harder to find.
Play music while students move around the room during the 30-second matching round to add energy and excitement!
The final few slides feature Random Situations, which are geared more toward older students since I teach high school.
