Materials Needed:
Partner Torture Cards (1 set per pair)
Worksheets one partnership or task cards one per partnerships
Directions:
Students partner up and must sit by their partner. They either have task cards or a worksheet in front of them. They must SHARE a pencil meaning only one student can work at a time. When the game begins one partner starts working on a problem or task card. The other partner must draw a torture card and do what the cards tells them to do. Example: “Hop on one foot.”. They must continue to do their card until their partner completes their problem and hands them the pencil. Then the partners swap rolls. The 2nd partner now completes a task card or problem while the other partner gets “tortured.” They draw a NEW card and do what it tells them. The process repeats until both partners complete their assignment or task cards.
FAQs and Tips:
I strongly recommend letting students pick their partners because some kids will work quicker to help their friends out than a random stranger.
Be sure that you have sufficient space in your room for all the cards. If not, remove those cards or move your class to a common area for the activity.
It helps to print the cards on different colors so you can easily keep the sets separated from others in the class.
