Materials Needed:
Worksheet typed into the Excel Template Page (It will automatically create 5 versions of it.)
Answer key typed into the Excel Template Page (It will automatically create the 5 answer keys.)
White board and markers
Directions:
Prior to the game you need to print the worksheets on different colors. If you have 5 versions of the worksheet you need 5 different colors- one for each version. The best part of this game is you get to pick the teams. You will give each student a color of worksheet. The color they get determines their team. Example: Everyone with a green worksheet is a team but playing at different tables/separately. (Do not have them all sit together. It works best if one student at a given table has a different color.) Once everyone has a colored worksheet, give the person sitting across/next to them the answer key. Example: If I am a pink worksheet and the kid sitting across from me is yellow. He will be given a pink answer key and I will be given a yellow answer key, so we can check one another.
On the board divide it into 5 (or however many teams you are playing with) columns one per color. Label each one and put 5 “x” marks underneath it. Leave whiteboard markers under the board.
Once time starts, students will begin working. When they have a problem done they check it with the person who has their answer key. If it is correct the answer checker initials (you can say crosses off or whatever you choose) that box and the student who got it correct walks to the white board. They get to make a choice- add an “x” to their color or erase an “x” from a different color. Once they choose they sit back down and continue.
The game continues like this until you are out of time. The team with the MOST “x” marks under their colors wins.
FAQs and Tips:
Create the excel templates and print them off. I recommend copying them on matching colors. Example: If the team is Purple. Run the assignment and the Purple Answer Keys on purple paper so it creates less confusion.
You can play with anywhere from 2-5 teams using the templates provided. Simply, just run copies of the number of teams you want.
If you have longer/harder problems or tasks. You can just keep all the answers and sign them off. This will eliminate the answer key part. The answer key part works best if you have easier/medium speed problems.
IF YOU ARE USING THE EXCEL TEMPLATE ONLY TYPE IN THE BRIGHT YELLOW BOXES AND THE REST WILL AUTOFILL BECAUSE THEY ARE PREPROGRAMMED! DO NOT TYPE IN ANY WHITE BOXES. MAKE SURE YOU TYPE THE QUESTIONS, THEN CHANGE THE TAB AT THE BOTTOM AND TYPE THE ANSWERS. PRINT BOTH TABS!
REMINDERS: TO EDIT ANY OF THE TEMPALTES YOU WILL FIRST NEED TO DOWNLOAD THEM TO YOUR COMPUTER. NOBODY IS ABLE TO ALTER THE ORIGINALS AS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE USE THEM. ALL POWERPOINTS ARE MEANT TO BE USED IN POWERPOINT AND NOT GOOGLE SLIDES.
