Materials Needed:
Jenga Game one per group
Worksheet or task cards one per student with 36 questions
Wooden dowel one per group (optional)
Directions:
Prior to playing, number all Jenga pieces 1 through 36 on the side (or however many pieces you have.) If you label both sides in sharpie then you won’t ever have to do this step again. Divide students into groups, 2-6 is great. The goal of the game is to have the highest Jenga tower at the end of all the groups. They all stack their Jenga tower up to start the game.
Each student will have a worksheet. They first determine which Jenga piece they want to move. They will generally tap a few and figure out which one is loose. Once they pick the piece they must answer the corresponding question on their worksheet. Example: The piece labeled 4 is loose so they must answer question 4. All students in the group must answer that question on their assignment. They check it off with the teacher once they ALL have the correct answer. Then they can remove that piece and stack it back on top of their Jenga tower making it taller.
This process continues with the group answering questions and moving pieces. If at any point their Jenga tower falls they must rebuild back to the original tower. They can no longer move any piece they have already answered so it will be harder to win but they can still play by answering the remaining questions.
FAQs and Tips:
There are multiple other ways to play this game. You can color the Jenga pieces and then different levels of questions correspond to different colors. Etc. You can google many other ways to play.
If you have older students (secondary) we recommend playing Mini Jenga. You can purchase it at the dollar store, and it makes the game more competitive. Some of the kids are wayyyy too good at the normal sized Jenga so it ruins the fun. Mini Jenga makes it harder and cheaper- win, win! Here is the link: Tumbling Tower Games, 72-pc. Sets | Dollar Tree
