Materials Needed:
1 class set of Among Us Player Cards
Tracker sheet for every student
Class set of lanyards (or they can use their school one if your school requires them)
14 tasks taped up around the room
Clipboards for every student
Directions:
Before the class starts, hang up the 14 location posters around the room/hallway. Under each location poster you need to put a task. Start the game by passing out the player cards. Each student needs one player card. They should look at the card secretly without telling anyone- they will either be a crewmate or an imposter. Have all students put their heads down on their desk and have the “IMPOSTERS” open up their eyes and look at each other. (*Imposter to Student ratio should be about 1:8) Have everyone open up their eyes and go over the rules of the game:
Students will walk around and complete tasks on their tracker sheet. For the CREWMATES to win everyone must complete 8 of the 14 tasks before they are killed by the IMPOSTERS. IMPOSTERS will also want to complete tasks to help blend in and not be killed off quickly. If an IMPOSTER taps their pencil on your clipboard, they have killed you. If you get killed you must wait 10 seconds before falling down/sitting down. If you see a dead CREWMATE (sitting or laying on the floor) you must shout “CLASS MEETING.” The teacher will walk over and give a GHOST tag to the dead student. During a Class Meeting, everyone returns to their seat and flips over their clipboard so nobody can see their work on the clipboard.
Class Meetings start by students raising their hand. The first 3 students the teachers calls on can nominate someone’s name to be on the voting list. (NO MORE THAN 3) Then start a timer for 2 minutes. GHOSTS must remain silent during the class meeting. They can not talk. The class can discuss those 3 names for 2 minutes. At the end of the two minutes, everyone must vote for 1 of the individuals on the board or they can SKIP voting. Whoever receives the most votes gets thrown out of the ship and becomes a “GHOST” and must wear a ghost tag. Whoever gets voted off must tell the class if they were an imposter or a crewmate. Then students flip back over the clipboards and continue to work on tasks.
The process continues until either the CREWMATES or the IMPOSTERS win. The CREWMATES win if everyone completes 8 tasks (ghosts included.) before they are all killed off. The IMPOSTERS win if an IMPOSTER is left in the final 3 students and all the imposter ghosts have completed 8 tasks.
FAQs and Tips:
Be very strict on the rules the first time you play. It will help the game run more smoothly and kids will be more excited to play.
If a student gets killed and another student was also killed during that time but was counting to 10. They must raise their hand and notify the teacher. They also get a ghost tag.
Only allow one student to be voted off per class meeting or the game ends too quickly.
To make the game more fun, utilize space outside your classroom- hallway, staircase, etc. for locations and tasks. If you are all crammed in one room it is really easy to identify the imposters.
Ghosts must continue to work or the crewmates will lose. Imposter ghosts must work for the imposters to win.
Students who get killed have trouble remaining quiet the rest of the game. During class meetings I make them come stand with their back to the class against the whiteboard so they can’t cheat. Additionally, say if a crewmate ghost speaks the imposters automatically win and the game is over.
