The City of Flagstaff will be conducting broad community outreach over the course of the next year to develop a concept plan for an 8.5 acres parcel (Thorpe Park Annex) on the southeast side of Thorpe Park to incorporate into the larger regional park.
Since the 1950s, the Thorpe Park Annex is dedicated to the "exclusive use of Park, Recreational and Museum Purposes" by ordinance, but for the last 75 years the Thorpe Park Annex has been used as a Public Works yard and currently houses the Sustainability Program offices, parking in existing garage bays, and a few businesses.
Since the Public Works yard moved across town, many of the buildings on the Thorpe Park Annex have been demolished and remediation has begun in the area. This leaves a lot of potential and unused space to provide diverse amenities and programming to the Flagstaff community.
Collaboration Ahead - The City of Flagstaff has hired Southwest Decision Resources and Wheat Design Group to gather perspectives from the community, get feedback on possible concept plans, and guide the implementation process for the Thorpe Park Annex. See the graphic below for a visual representation of the community process.
