Need to speak with a Specialist Home Physiotherapist?
What geographical areas do you cover?
North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Glasgow Sound and West end of Glasgow
You will be asked to fill in a form with your details, your GP’s details and your medical insurance details (if relevant). Your specialist home physiotherapist will then call you through and you will be asked questions relating to your condition, as well as your past medical history and any medication you may be on. You will then be given a physical examination where the therapist will ask you to perform certain movements and observe these. The therapist will also do some movements/tests on you. We do this to establish what is wrong and therefore what needs to be done to help your problem.
What conditions you treat?
I have extensive experience in helping people with the following conditions:
Stroke; Hip/ Knee Replacement; Fractures; Falls; Back/Neck Pain; Reduced Mobility; General Deconditioning ( eg after illness or hospital stay).
Some problems can be resolved within 2-3 physiotherapy sessions. Frequently, your problem may have a longstanding history or be postural in nature and you will need more sessions. We usually hope to have you on the right track in 6-8 sessions, if you have made no progress, we will refer you onwards (i.e., to your GP, Consultant or another discipline.) You may need ongoing treatment for a period of time to prevent re-occurrence of your problem and to help resolve chronic and postural problems.
Will I be actively involve in treatment?
Yes, you will be given physiotherapy exercises to help resolve your condition and prevent re-occurrence. These will be re-assessed regularly and will be progressed according to your improvement.
How long does an appointment last?
Your home physiotherapy appointment will last 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
What should I expect during a home physiotherapy session?
Physiotherapist will assess your condition, develop a personalized treatment plan, and guide you through exercises and techniques to support your recovery within the comfort of your own home. Also home exercises will be explained and provided to you as well.

What Does A Home Visit Entail?
A home visit is very similar to an in-clinic appointment. Our physiotherapist will ask you a few questions regarding your issue, your medical conditions and your daily life. They will then assess the area and your mobility. From this assessment the therapist will decide what course of treatment is best and then start this process.
What Do I Need To Do?
Be in the house at the appointment time. Wear comfortable clothing. If you cannot remember your medication please have a list of this handy. You must be willing to participate in an assessment which will include some mobility around the house.
If you use walking aids please have these ready for the appointment.
Do I Need A Family Member Or Friend With Me?
It is not essential for you to have someone with you at the time of the assessment. However, if you feel you would like the support or need the help of someone to converse and discuss your issue, then it would be helpful for someone you trust to be there.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Unfortunately, we cannot give the answer to this. It depends on the initial assessment and your goals. The therapist will discuss how many sessions you will need on your first appointment.
