Thomas McCorry’s professional journey spans more than two decades, highlighted by 20 years with Constellation Brands, a global producer of renowned beer, wine, and spirits brands such as Corona, Modelo, Meomi, Robert Mondavi, Casa Noble, Mi Campo, and Svedka. Over this period, he advanced through multiple financial leadership roles, including Accounting and Controls, Operational Finance, Controllership, Business Partnership, Strategy, and executive-level financial management.
Throughout his tenure, he consistently delivered results across diverse responsibilities. His expertise covers leadership, strategic and financial planning, risk management, financial controls, process optimization, coaching and mentoring, accounting under US GAAP, cost management, business storytelling, valuations, modeling, and revenue management.
Joining Constellation Brands in 2004 as a Director, he later became Vice President of Global Accounting. In this position, he oversaw the global consolidated accounting close process for the $3.6 billion publicly traded company. He reduced the overall close time by eight days, improved reporting quality, and established strong internal controls. His initiatives included developing global cash flow reporting processes, consolidating multi-currency statements, and cutting preparation time by 10 days.
He conducted accounting research on complex transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and derivative instruments, reducing the need for external consultants. He led fair value purchase price allocations for multiple acquisitions exceeding $1 billion, developed global accounting policies and procedures, and centralized global intercompany transaction processing to eliminate errors and improve timing. His oversight extended to global general ledger governance, compliance with US GAAP across domestic and international divisions, and the design and implementation of a new global ERP system.
In 2012, he became Vice President of FP&A – Wine & Spirits, responsible for strategic and annual planning for the U.S. Wines & Spirits business with $2.7 billion in profit.
Two years later, as Vice President of Commercial Finance – Wine & Spirits, he drove strategic financial planning and operational effectiveness. He created market-level annual financial and operating plans to support revenue growth, market share expansion, brand mix optimization, and margin improvement. He centralized about $150 million of non-price investments and implemented a zero-based budgeting process, improving visibility and alignment with commercial goals. His responsibilities also included overseeing monthly closings, forecasts, and reporting, providing insights to align sales and financial performance.
He introduced financial metrics to better connect sales results with company performance and trained sales teams. He implemented a cloud-based forecasting tool integrating regional sales, S&OP data, and historical trends, which improved forecast accuracy. He restructured the sales finance function into a shared services model, supporting growth and acquisitions without increasing staff. His contributions also included strategic planning, acquisition evaluation, and board-level reporting.
Later, as Chief Audit Executive and Senior Vice President & Controller, he returned to the Wine & Spirits Division as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Partnering with a new leadership team after a $1 billion divestiture of lower-end brands, he focused on high-growth areas such as direct-to-consumer and select international markets. He removed nearly $100 million in stranded fixed costs, formed a pricing execution team and revenue council, and achieved a 500% increase in price realization within two years.
From 2021 to late 2023, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Beer Division, an $8 billion revenue business with close to $3 billion in profit and large-scale operations in Mexico and the U.S. He led initiatives reducing planned capacity investments by $1.5 billion (30%) over three years by aligning demand, supply planning, and engineering. He improved capital governance, reduced expenditures, and enhanced margins by 30–40 basis points. He also developed a multi-year cost efficiency strategy for a $3 billion operations base, mitigating inflationary pressures.
He strengthened cross-border collaboration through the first expatriate program in the division, increasing engagement scores by eight points, lowering turnover, and reducing recruitment costs. He also partnered with the strategy team to enhance global integrated business planning, aligning investments and strategic priorities. His role included active participation in investor relations, presenting the beer strategy at events, and contributing to quarterly earnings communications.
Before joining Constellation Brands, he worked for seven years in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Andersen.
In early 2024, he became Managing Consultant at Pinnacle Growth Strategies. Leveraging over 25 years of finance, accounting, and strategic planning experience, he partners with businesses to improve financial performance, manage complex risks, and achieve long-term growth. His work includes designing customized strategies, improving operational efficiency, and providing insights for informed decision-making. His approach continues the results-focused methods he applied during his corporate career, helping organizations across industries address challenges and seize opportunities.
