Iman R. Kivi attended the EGU General Assembly from 27 April to 2 May in Vienna, Austria. He gave the outstanding early career scientist award lecture of the Energy, Resources and the Environment (ERE) division with the title “Energy transition and the challenge of induced seismicity”. This presentation focused on Iman’s research on process understanding of injection induced seismicity by low-carbon geoenergies, in particular, geothermal energy systems and geologic carbon storage. He also presented a poster on “CO2BLOCKSEISM, a tool for screening CO2 storage resources constrained by the risk of induced seismicity”. Besides, he co-chaired the session ERE5.4: “Coupled processes in geological media and their impact on geo-energy technologies”.
