"HA!"
I flipped back in the air, as soon as my feet touched the dojo mat I dashed up to him again, feeling the air whistled violently by my side
My fist met Taiyang's as shockwaves exploded around our point of impact. I dug my leg into the ground, trying not to be blown back again
As expected of Yang's father, this guy's combat prowess is terrifying at close range
Ding!
You have learned [Job Class: Martial Artist (Beginner)]
You have learned [Martial Art Style Dragon Breath]: +20% Base Damage
We exchanged many blows with each other, or trying to counter them on my part as Tai just dished out more and more punches at a faster and faster rate by the second
It's been three days now and I've only grasped the basic of this fighting style, God knows how much harder it will be in the future
Tai has told me at the start of our training that his Dragon Breath is an attack and counter-focused style, aiming at achieving a supreme offensive capability by pushing the strength in your attack to the utmost limit
He'd also told me that there's no defensive stances to this particular martial style either. If someone attack you, you have to either endure the brunt of it or counter with your attack before they can execute their own
It basically follow this quote: "The best defense is the best offense", as is the attacking principle of war goes
Which is why it took me so long just to grasp the concept of it, because it's mechanism goes against almost every other art style I've known in modern time, which mainly focused on counterattacking, defending, disarming and other non-lethal move being used
I narrowly dodged his straight jab and responded with one of my own, only for him to raise his foot and blocked it. before I could react, he kicked my hand away with that same leg and executed a spinning kick which threw me to the side
to say it was painful as hell would be an understatement. I literally crashed into the dojo's wall, having my breath knocked out of me upon impact
Taiyang walked up to me and offered me a hand to get up
"Alright (Y/n), you can have a break, we've been training non-stop for 4 hours now, I'm pretty sure you're tired at this point" he smiled at me "And don't try to deny it, your breathing are too rapid for anymore exercises"
It's true, I'm exhausted to the bone
4 hours of fighting? Is that truly my limit? I stared at my sweaty hand, which was shaking slightly from punching too much. It would have been an amazing feat for a normal human to last that long, but I only felt contempt for myself
'Pathetic' I thought bitterly 'Three days of training and I'm still too weak'
"Well then, teacher. See you later" I said as I bowed and walked out of the dojo, my uniform still filled with sweat from training
<><><><><><><><><><><><>
I jumped on my fluffy futon, sighing as the soft fabric brushed against my skin. It feels good, so good that I thought I was sleeping between the clouds in heaven
Perhaps Tai is right, I really need a break after all that intensive training
Let's see, in the last few days my level have been raised several times. I am now level 4, which is better than nothing to be honest. It was slow, but it's progress nonetheless
Along with my ascension to a higher level is the ability to upgrade my equipment being unlocked. I was intending to use it on my tools back in the forest, but later decided against it for a reason
Those Trash items will expire in the near future, the need to waste my efforts on them are just unnecessary. Besides, I'm currently training at a dojo, so there's no need for a weapon anyway
Although, I'm excited for my next level-up, since it will open the two abilities that I'm sure will help me very much in the future. [Mechanical Tracing] and [Item Repair]. With those two skills, I'll be able to create my own weapon as long as I can make contact with one
Huh...I wonder if I level up the [Mechanical Tracing] skill enough time, will it evolve into Shirou's Unlimited Blade Work?
Well, there's no need to rush things I guess, what is soon to come will come
As I was about to closed my eyes, the sound of the door to my room (Or Yang's room, whatever) opened, revealing Ruby standing behind it. She is carrying a tray of tea with her
"Ruby"
"(Y/n)" She greeted back as she set the tray down on the ground
Using the chance, I tried to use [Appraisal] on her as she got close
Name: Ruby Rose
Race: Human

Ninjutsu: 1
Kenjutsu: 3
Fuuinjutsu: 0
Kekkei-Genkai: Silver Eye (locked), Speed Burst (locked)

This is something that I've recently discovered I can do when I started sparring with Tai. Apparently I can gauge people's strength just by looking at them and opening the [Menu] screen at the same time
It's honestly underrated. Most Gamer fanfic tends to pass this thing off as being less than trivial, preferring to think of them as something every gamer should have. But to me personally, being able to know how powerful your opponent is could give you a massive advantage in battle
Taijutsu is a person's physical ability and martial art skill. This stat usually affects their base strength, speed and stamina. One's Taijutsu stat usually indicates how good they are at close-range combat apart from some rare exception
Ninjutsu is...a little hard to explain actually. I don't think of it as those jutsus move in Naruto, but rather the basic technique shinobis often uses to hide themselves and sometime help them in combat
In short: Just imagine Nora being able to launch an unlimited amount of fireball and you should be able to grasp it pretty well
Kenjutsu is your mastery over weapons. In Ruby's case, this stat is high enough to prove she is a weapon prodigy, just like her canon counterpart. That is something given that she is able to wield a fucking scythe in canon, which Ozpin has literally said as 'one of the most dangerous weapon to use', and she did just that with ease
I guess something never changes no matter what universe you're in, huh?
Lastly, Fuuinjutsu is an art that enables the user to utilize seals in combat. The seal's effects can vary depend on their fighting style and skills on the subject, ranging from one that can slowly poison your body upon contact or one that literally explode when stepped on
The only limitation to this stat is technique and imagination, so it can be very dangerous if used right
Lastly, Kekkei-Genkai. A rough translation of the term would be (Bloodline Limit), apparently it's this world's version of Semblance
WHICH HONESTLY MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL, DOES THAT MEAN SEMBLANCES ARE HEREDITARY IN ORIGIN? HOLY SHIT, THAT IS MIND-BLOWN!
Does that mean Blake, Weiss and Yang also inherit their Semblance from their parents? That would explain the resemblance between their power in the movie. I can't believe it, it's just too sudden of a knowledge for me
Wait...
Semblance...reSemblance....it all makes sense now
"Hey Ruby, do you have a Kekkei-Genkai?" I asked her
"Hmm?" She looked at me with a surprised expression on her face "Why would you ask that?"
Hmm...So the term 'Kekkei Genkai' DID exist in this world and is considered as common knowledge. That's pretty good to know, it also means Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and the others are also normal thing too
"I'm just curious is all" She tilted her head at this
"Well, Dad said I have one. It's called 'Silver Eyes' if I remembered right" She shrugged "My mother used to have it before she went blind from overusing the eye"
"Do you know how a person can unlock their Kekkei-Genkai?"
"There's multiple methods to do it, each differs from person to person" She appeared to be thoughtful "The two most effective ways would be to either experience a near-death experience or suffering from a great loss, either physically, spiritually or emotionally. Either way, you have to experience severe trauma in order to gain it, so it will be beneficial for you to never attempt it at all"
Oh...oh damn. This is bad
Does that mean I'll never be able to unlock my Kekkei-Genkai? I don't like the thought of myself experiencing insanity, even if it's at the lowest level. I've already seen enough cases of people go mad with power, and let me tell you, most of the time it didn't end well for everyone
But this is not that far from the truth. In canon, we've actually had several glimpses at how they unlocked their Semblance, but chose not to dwell about it
Jaune unlocks his Semblance when his friend Weiss is in danger, allowing him to save her life at the nick of time
Ren also unlock his emotion Semblance during the attack on Kuroyuri in order to hide himself and Nora from the Grimms
Ruby awakened her Silver Eyes when she witnessed Pyrrha's death at the hand of Cinder in a moment of what I could only assumed to be rage and grief
All in all, I'm supposed this alternate universe does have some similarities with canon
In fact, the only thing I didn't know is that Silver Eyes could make their users go blind from being overused too much
Wait....
Holy fuc- Why do I see something here?
A pair of eyes with an ancient origin, which can apparently be unlocked by experiencing trauma, which can ALSO make the users go blind if used too much, which can ALSO be inherited through blood connection?
This is just like the Sharingan all over again!
And Ruby has black hair too, don't tell me she is an Uchiha?!
I furiously sipped on my tea to calm myself down. It won't be of much use freaking out about something that hadn't been proven yet. There's no way the silver-eyed girl can be related to those emo bastards from the anime
After a few sips I finally calmed down.
So...this is basically what happened when you made a Naruto crossover with RWBY. I wonder if instead off Huntsman, we have Shinobis, Samurais or monks to subjugate those Grimm (or whatever they call Grimm as in this world, i don't care)
Hell, even a Demon Slaying Corp won't be entirely out of the equation, considering that Kimetsu no Yaiba is also set in the Edo period as well and this game might be inspired by it
The more I think about it, the more it confuses me
"Ruby. I'm going to take a walk outside. Do you want to go with me?" I asked her, to which the young girl perked up
"Y-yes, I could take some fresh air as well"
I shook my head at this
....Ah, back when Ruby is still an innocent girl and not the raging ball of PTSD that is her in season 4, those were the days

I've never realized just how busy the village of Patch is until I've actually placed my foot outside the dojo
People are bustling on the streets, doing their own things and minding their own business, yet they all seem to know each other given the way they stopped and greeted their fellow pedestrians.
Ruby walked beside me, waving to the ones she came across, who all nodded back as well. I figured she's something of a well-known face here
"What do you usually do for a living?" I asked "I know your father's dojo couldn't contribute enough for your minimal income requirement. Your sister is gone, and your mother is currently incapacitated. How do you get enough money to get by?"
"Uhm..." she seems really bothered by it
"Are you a prostitute?"
"What's a prostitute?" She tilted her head at me
"A woman who gets money by having sex with strangers"
"What is sex?"
Oh, she didn't know yet? Tai really neglects his duty as a father, doesn't he?
Fine then, I'll give her the talk myself. I believe every children should have a thorough education about sexual intercourse before they hit puberty so I'm not the least bit bothered anyway
"Well, you see, when a man meets a woman and he is feeling very horny down there...."
And our conversation continued on as we walked down the village's main road
