Day 9: A Lost Raven

I tried to suppress the urge to scold Alistair and Murdoch , instead settling on glaring at them in the most annoyed expression my face muscle could manage

"Even if they are Grimms, kids are still kids, huh?"

The pair of Grimm are chasing a nearby butterfly. Having never seen such a creature like that, it's obvious their interest would arouse

We have already left our cave 3 hours ago as the last ray of sunlight bid it's goodbye. With the pair's guidance, we started moving south-north under the night sky with me in the front, since apparently I'm the only one who can see in the dark

I can now say that we're very close to the border, judging from the lights on the horizon and a distant dot of light in the sky, probably a plane or a 'Bullhead' as the show had called it

I shouted out for the pair to stop playing and come over. Alistair arrived first, Murdoch cluttered behind her with a reluctant pout on his face

Even though they're the same size as me, I'm still mentally older than them, as such I've taken it upon myself to raise them like how a father would raise his child

It was a strange feeling, really, considering that I wasn't even 20 years old yet when I arrived in this place

My muse was cut short when Alistair start talking

"Boss, boss! See what we found!" As she said so Alistair brought her hands forward, making me blink at the object in her palms

A raven is lying downward, it's face leaning to the side. The bird's feather were as dark as the night surrounding us, the only thing making it visible is two pair of crimson orbs staring at me in vigilance

Taking it from the Beowolf's palm, I carefully inspected it. The bird was obviously injured, and under the effect of night vision I can see the wounds inflicted on it

It was bleeding non-stop, across it's back were numerous scratch and stab wounds. The raven looked like it was severely wounded by a bladed object. Why it was there I had no idea. But I've already got the general idea of how to deal with it

I pressed on the bleeding wound until the blood stop flowing and cleansed it with some water, then I told the pair to bring me the bear hide and several other items we brought with us. I cut out a piece of the hide using my hand-made knife and wrapped it around the raven, causing it to shiver involuntarily. It must have been cold for a long time.

The next thing I have to do is... I stopped there. There's nothing for me to do, not with so little items on my hand. I closed my eyes in thought. Think, there must be something I can do

My eyes snapped open in realization. Wait, it is said in the show Grimms are creature without Aura because they don't possess a soul and only a primal instinct to exterminate all humans, therefore incapable of cohesive thoughts. But that's not the case here, since Alistair and Murdoch have proven to be able to communicate and think similarly to that of human. They have their individual personalities and weaknesses, proving that they have a soul, therefore they must be capable of using Aura. If not, then why can evolved Grimm use their Semblance?

'If I can use Aura, then I could use it to heal the bird, right?'.

Thinking like that I began to look deeper into myself. Soon enough, I came across what seems to be my core. It was glowing with a mysterious black aura. As I touched it, the core rippled slightly. Grinning, I began to draw upon that energy and circulate it around my body

Alistair and Murdoch stare in shock as some kind of black energy enveloped his body. He opened his eyes, which has now turned purple

Congratulation! You have unlocked 'Emperor's Aura’You have evolved into an [Alpha Beowolf]My body suddenly become lighter, all of my muscle condensed together. It doesn't take an expert to guess my appearance have changed. Indeed, my frame has now became leaner, but taller at the same time, my fangs and tail also grew a bit longer

Reaching my hand toward the shivering bird and grasped it in my palm. I began to channel my newly-acquired aura into it. The raven gave a small caw of discomfort, but become silent as my energy spread across it's wound. Even I was speechless as the injuries closed up immediately, as if it were never there in the first place. I know Aura could heal but damn, this thing is too OP even Riot would nerf it

I slowly opened my palm to see if the raven is okay. It slowly stood up and looked me straight in the eyes, as if trying to remember my face, before it flapped it's small wings and flew away. Huh, until now I just sense that there's something weird with this Raven, must be my imagination

I turned to look at the pair, only to find their shocked face mixed with awe and adoration. They seems to be shorter than me now, only reaching to my chin

"I can't believe it, Boss'd evolved!" Murdoch yelled

"Sasuga, as expected of our boss. He's really strong!" Alistair cheered

I raised an eyebrow, before rolling my eyes and pulled both of them into a hug, earning a yelp from each of them

"If you want, I can train you guys so you can become as strong as me"

"R-really?" Alistair sputtered "You'd do that for us"

"Of course, we're family after all" I laughed

"Now let's continue on with our journey, we're halfway there and I'd hate to lose more time"

"Hai!" Both of them replied. It seems they were in high spirits

The raven flapped it's wing furiously until the Grimms have gone out of sight. It then steered off into a clearing

As it landed, the raven turned into a woman with pale skin and red eye clad in Huntress outfit, on her left side is a sheathed kodachi

She pulled out her Scroll and dialed a number. After several rings, the call was picked up

"Raven?" The person on the other side asked "Why are you calling me at this hour?"

The woman, Raven took a shuddering breath

"Summer" She said "You won't believe what just happened to me"

Author's note: And that's the end of this chapter. Poor MC didn't know who he just saved, lol

I just need to ask you guys a question: What should our protagonist's human form looked like. Is it like this?
