I woke up
For a moment there I thought I was in my bedroom. Apparently that's not the case judging from the cold, hard surface beneath me. It's stony texture sent chills down my back from the temperature of this place
I blinked, my eyes hazy as I tried to take in the scenery surrounding me. My breath came out in hazy white mist that dissipated moments after it left the warmth of my body. Yet strangely enough, I didn't feel as cold as I'd thought I would
Once again, I attempted to rack my memories for any residue fragments that may point me out as to just where the hell I am, and what the hell I am doing here
Ah, that's right. I was reincarnated wasn't I ?
It's a logical reason considering that I had died. I won't go into details much but it's all because of a certain vehicle ramming itself against me on my way home, quite a cliched way to send a person to another world might I say
Anyway, Truck-kun, you asshole
Sighing, I take a look at my appearance to see if I've changed much. Instead of a normal human hand, what greeted me is shadowy black paws with claws protruding from my fingertips. My eyes widened
What ?
I turned around and caught my reflection on a nearby ice wall. For the first time since the reincarnation I finally have a full view of my new body
Black, featureless form resemble that of a small wolf with red irises stared back at me unblinkingly. My hide is smooth, almost as black as the darkness surrounding me itself. A guttural growl of surprise emitted from my mouth as I stepped back, my red eyes wide
Apparently I'm not human anymore
Please allow me a moment to freak out
"AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
<><><><><><><>
Right, with that out of the way. Perhaps we can move on
For convenience's sake I'm just going to skip 5 minutes of freaking out, 10 minutes of calming down and thirty seconds to recollect my thought and come to a logical conclusion regarding my current situation
So apparently I has been reborn as a Grimm in the RWBY universe for some unknown reason. Additionally, I have been given two abilities: [Gamer] and [Devourer]
The first allowed me to lived and experience my life as a game. Ordinary stuff, right? I mean, you already had your fair share of Gamer stories on Wattpad before coming here, so I can guarantee this isn't your first time
The second one enable me to gain properties of things I've eaten, just like Rou in Re:Monster. Or Rimuru from That time I got reincarnated as a Slime. Or Alex Mercer from Prototype. Or the protagonist from Berserk of Gluttony
Now that I think about it, there's a lot of dude with consuming powers in fiction, aren't they? Now this just honestly makes me look unoriginal
Oh well, it all depends on the way they're used, I guess
'Wait a minute', you'd say if you are surprised. 'Chotto Matte', you'd say if you were a weeb. 'Excuse me what the fuck', you'd say if you are a memer
How did I know all of this ? You would ask
Well, there's this window that seemingly appear out of nowhere and start giving me information regarding my current situation. It's been quite helpful so far
Warning: Due to not eating anything in a long period of time, your status has changed to [Hungry]
Your HP will decrease if you don't eat anything for the next [5] hours
See? Helpful
The little thing doesn't speak much, but I've been talking to it for the last hour to see if there are any voice commands on it that I can exploit
There isn't. I can't talk to this holographic screen
WHY CAN'T I TALK TO THE SCREEN?!
I don't know if I sound like an autistic kid doing that or not, but let's hope I don't. My mind's already fragile as it is, and such a mental blow would surely knock me out
Anyway, I guess it's time to find some food before testing my power then
I stood up and walked to the entrance of the cave, carefully avoiding the protruding ice shards on the way, before poking my head out to see if there's anything in sight
The snowstorm had completely ceased, leaving a blank white meadow before me with only a few deadbush sticking out. Apart from that, there's nothing of interest
Marking the cave with a rock, I breathed deeply before taking the first step into this new world
<><><><><><><><><>
I hold my breath as not to make a sound behind the tree
I've found my prey
It is a little wolf with white fur strolling down the meadow, heading in an indefinite direction. If I can guess, this might be a mountain hound seperated from it's pack during the storm
Or in other words, food
I have zero experience on hunting, the closest I've ever gotten to that is those documentary on Discovery before their shitty reality shows.
I carefully moved to the down wind direction. Picking up a rock, I threw it the wolf's direction. The object whistled through the air before it collided with it's forehead, making a thick sound upon impact
Temporarily stunned, the wolf wobbled unsteadily on it's four legs. At that moment I pounced out from behind the bush towards him with my fangs extended
It wasn't much of a fight. The animal was killed before it could retaliate due to being stunned
A drop of saliva trickled from my lips as I gazed at the bloody carcass. All I felt at that moment was the hunger for flesh burning in my stomach. I opened my mouth, my teeth gleaming ready to consume it before I stopped
I would have ate it then and there had I not restrained myself. Exposing myself in the open like this will leave me vulnerable to sneak attacks. That said, I reluctantly closed my mouth before slinging the corpse on my shoulder before heading back to the cave
<><><><><><><>
Strangely enough, I didn't feel any remorse or disgust as I tear into the wolf's raw flesh. As a matter of fact, it tastes fine to me
Is this also a part of Rou's ability or it's just me being hungry?
You have learned [Sharper Claw]
You have learned [Sharper Fang]
I seem to have gained it's ability as expected. If my ability is similar to Rou than the more of the same specie I eat, the more of their ability I can learn
Hmm...
Anyway, since I've just eaten an entire wolf, it ought to satisfy my belly for some time before I have to hunt again. Apparently I can now eat much more than my past self. Assuming my current body has the same biological energy consumption as normal animal, I'll be nice and full for the next 12 hours
I stretched myself and yawn, plopping myself down a nearby ice pillar. It seems my fatigue from yesterday still hadn't completely disappear, I estimated it should be gone by tomorrow morning.
Ah, well. Let's call that a day I guess
