"You know what? Fuck this"
The Saw Cleaver snapped shut as I turned tail and run. A roar sounded behind me, the only warning I got before the Beast hurled itself upon my position
I rolled away, letting it crash into the end of the bridge. I made quick work of scaling between the higher buildings, as well as alternating between the brick houses so as to confuse it. All the while I tried to take stray attacks after it, dwindling its health down little by little
Of course, the bridge was not forgotten, but I'm a speed-based fighter. What kind of hunter would I be if I don't utilize it to my advantage? Jumping. Dodging. Backstabbing. That's just how I fight
Quest Created
- Kill the Cleric Beast without getting hit
Reward: 5,000 Blood Echoes
Fading out of sight, I utilized the brief respite to recover my stamina before moving once again, this time I'm heading toward the top of the highest building in Central Yharnam, where I pulled out my pistol and let out a shot
The Beast reared its head at the noise. Soon enough it was rushing toward me, using its elongated limb to climb the tower I'm standing on. As it was about to reach me the Cleric Beast let out vicious snarls, madness dancing in its bloodshot eyes
I calmly leveled the gun at it
Headshot. Stagger. As its balance was lost the Beast crashed down the ground from the height of the tower. Its health lost another one fifth as I landed on it, continuing with a Visceral Attack near its chest
The shriek of agony staggered me at close range, causing me to jump back as it entered its enraged state
"Oh damn. In this form it was supposed to be more agile and aggressive, wasn't it?"
I jumped back within the houses of Yharnam, with the beasts following after me. It crashed into the house, only to me staggered and visceral'ed once more as I ambushed it. With my right hand I executed a barrage of slash with my untransformed Saw Cleaver at it. [Gale Force] bridged my lackluster damage with the speed I'm attacking
Another fifth dwindled down. Only two fifth to go
Backing down through the backdoor, I threw the Molotov Cocktail at the house which caused it to lit aflame. The Beast's pained roar echoed from within
As soon as it burst out from the door, I stunlocked it with three consecutive shots to the head, feet and arm. Another consecutive storm of slashes assaulted upon it. The Saw's serrated damage proving to be a useful asset against the boss
Soon enough, the last of its health dwindled down to the last fifth
It staggered on its leg, enabling me to move behind it and raise my weapon
Charged Attack. Visceral Attack and another shot should be enough to out this thing down
...
Shit. I'm out of stamina
Cursing, I weakly got down just in time for it to strike at my head. I rolled to the side as the Cleric Beast tried to stamp on my chest. Splinters from the wooden floor were sent flying, some of which grazed past my cheeks and drawing blood from me
"GAH!"
Letting out a roar as my stamina get restored. I kicked the thing in the crotch and jumped up. I brought my transformed cleaver down on it, splitting it from head to toe with the strongest swing I could muster
The two halves fell to the side with a wet splat. I landed to the ground on a crouch, panting as I leaned on my weapon for support
The beast's blood rained down on my coat as I wiped my saw off
"Prey...Slaughtered"
<><><><><><><><>
I wasn't hit, but I still felt like shit. Repeatedly burning up on stamina in a short amount of time isn't the most pleasant sensation to a person

I turned my gaze to the lamp on the bridge. Sighing, I began making my way there through the vast channel of house windows and wooden ledges
Reality faded around me as I hovered my hand over the lamp. It twisted and distorted like an illusion, changing the scenery of central Yharnam to that of the Hunter's dream
"Hello, good Hunter"
My footstep halted just in front of the stairs
The Doll stood there. I stared back as she tilted her head at me
Unlike her previous inanimation. I can now see her come to life due to the Insight I obtained from the Cleric Beast.
The Doll appear quite beautiful, a testament to both Gehrman's skill as a craftsman and Lady Maria's beauty. She has pale, unblemished white skin and a fair complexion, like that of a noble woman. A man would have a hard time resisting his urges near her had they not knew she was a doll
It does upset me, however, that she's standing quite noticeably taller than me
"You..."
"I am a doll, here in this Dream to look after you" She bowed "Honorable hunter, pursue the echoes of blood and I will channel them into your strength. You will hunt beasts, and I will be here for you, to embolden your sickly spirit"
I walked up to her. My weary posture must have concerned the Doll as she held out a hand in anticipation
"Very well, mi'lady. If you will excuse me" I placed my hand in her outstretched palm. Suffice to say I'm curious about what I would see. It's obvious the strengthening I received doesn't require Blood Echoes, so what will I see is entirely a mystery
Immediately, a bloodied parchment appeared midair in front of me
Name: //////////
Backgound: The heir to a prestigious noble family, you came to Yharnam as a Hunter with a purpose. A purpose that had sadly been lost
The choices displayed underneath are available upgrades to existing skills. Level up to unlock more of them
Default
[Enhanced Constitution II] (5,000 Blood Echoes)
[Sniping II] (7,000 Blood Echoes)
[Blood Bullet II] (7,500 Blood Echoed)
Dexterity (2/10)
[Terrain Traversal II] (5,000 Blood Echoes)
[Gale Force II] (8,000 Blood Echoes)
Interesting. Let's upgrade [Terrain Traversal] and [Enhanced Body]
From the description, this only affects your speed outside of combat. But from what I've seen during the Cleric Beast fight, I can still navigate the street just as easily during combat
Which is why a loophole is found from there. As long as I stayed out of an enemy's striking range, it will still be counted as "outside of combat", thus I would still retain that same speed from before
-5,000 [Blood Echoes]
You have bought [Terrain Traversal II]
- A Hunter stalks their prey through the new moonlight. +80% movement speed when not engaged in combat
-5,000 [Blood Echoes]
You have bought [Enhanced Constitution II]
- The awakened Hunter had had their first taste of the Hunt. Now used to the scent of blood, its intoxicating smell grants them higher resistance against poisons
"Thank you miss Doll"
"It is a pleasure to serve you, Good Hunter" She bowed, causing my brows to furrow in confusion
Was the Doll supposed to bow after strengthening in Bloodborne? I can't quite recall
Snapping the Saw Cleaver open, I stalked up the stairs, occasionally giving the Messengers some headpat in thanks for their service
I arrived inside the Workshop. The dimly lit room reflected off Gehrman's figure as he sat hunched against his wheelchair
Ignoring him, I set up my weapons and fortify them using the blood shard I found. Several hundred drop of Blood Echoes to strengthen their properties, and the shards to bind the user to it
"That's some fine craftsmanship you've got there"
Gehrman said behind me. It was brief, but his words obviously held a certain amount of interest in them
"I have experience handling weapons before" I replied, oiling the inside of the pistol's barrel
"How queer. Your posture struck me to be of the noble type...Dignified, prideful, yet cautious...it almost reminds me of her"
I stopped
"I don't understand?"
"Forgive me. It's just an old man's observation" He let out a haggard chuckle "Nevermind. Nevermind. Hahaha"
Confused, I finished repairing and fortifying my weapon, to which I then strapped them on my body.
Once outside, I walked to the gravestone and knelt beside it. I closed my eyes, letting the foreign energy flowed through me
Within moments, I awakened within Central Yharnam on the Great Bridge. I stood up from my kneeling position and head back to the target area. My footstep echoed upon the stone pavement, the silence seemingly stretched on within the street of this bloodied city
I still have the 2 stat points from before. Without hesitation I once again poured them into Dexterity
Dexterity (4/10)
- You have learned skill [Stealth]: A Hunter blends in with the shadow. -30% noise created when moving
- You have learned skill [Assassination]: A Hunter strikes from the darkness. +100% Damage when attacking enemies from behind
The Hunt had just begun
<><><><><><><><><>
"Without fear, we are no different than Beasts ourselves"
Eileen's words echoed in my mind. I offhandedly glanced at the Bold Hunter's Mark, contemplating the meaning behind it
The woman was exactly as I had imagined her to be. Ruthless, swift in her movement and harsh in her words, but she had given me these. A proof that she isn't as uncaring as one thought
Without fear, one cannot be human. A Hunter must Hunt, regardless of their prey
Why am I hunting?
"To seek Paleblood" I scowled "Transcend the Hunt. Isn't that what the note told me?"
"But are you really?"
"Of course, and now I'm talking to myself" I replied "The first sign of insanity. Perhaps I'm starting to go mad from the killing"
I put the pistol against my head, pondering if I should shoot myself or not
Or its the first sign of enlightenment The voice once again spoke. My finger tightened around the trigger Instead of the Blood making you go mad, it's starting to make you remember
"Remember what?"
Insights aren't just currencies, after all
"You present a convincing argument, me" I lowered the gun and sighed. Guess I should be wary of collecting too much Insights on the Hunt. Not too little as to disadvantage myself, but not too much so as to make this game more difficult
And so I continued stalking stray beasts. My varying skill set enables me to take out enemies at a much rapid pace than before. Use [Terrain Traversal] to accelerate your movement speed, [Stealth] + [Assassination] to take out a large amount of health beforehand, after which cutting them down swiftly with [Gale Force]
Often time, when the enemy is too far away or two crowded I used [Sniping] to single them out before approaching them. It's an efficient method that saves tons of resources and blood echoes for further upgrade
Unlike the game which only have limited access to the area, I can roam here as far as I like, so naturally I stayed in Central Yharnam, continue hunting more prey to farm Blood Echoes and get more experience in combat
As a result, now I have several stacks of items stored away in the Hunter's Dream. My cautious tendency tells me I'm going to need it in the future
Eventually I filled a part of my Blood Gauge. But the mobs here had lessened considerably than before, so I guess it's time to move on to another area
After a while of traveling, I arrived in front of another house. A warm glow came from inside, illuminating a girl's figure that will grant me the Quest this time
<><><><><><><><><>
"Are you a Hunter? Then...Please, will you look for my mum? Daddy never came back from the Hunt, and she went to find him, but now she's gone too...I'm all alone...and scared...?"
And that is cue for me entering through Oedon tomb and sweeping through the mass of villagers there. It was a little harder
Blood Gauge: 27/40
"That should be the last of them" I wiped the blood off my blade and descended down the ladder. The sight of a graveyard greeted me as I jumped down the ladder
The fog dispersed slightly as I made my way through it. The hunched form of Father Gascoigne butchering at the Yharnamites appeared just like in the game
New Quest created:
- Kill Father Gascoigne in less than 100 seconds
It's impossible. I thought. No man had ever done that before to a Bloodborne boss on their first game
But then again, they operate on a completely different system than me. I should plan this accordingly to my strength
"Beasts all over the Workshop..."
As I approached, the maddened Hunter whispered longingly. Either to himself, or the bloodied corpse at his feet. The whisper of a dying man
"You'll be one of them, sooner or later"
It is simply surprising how fast a Hunter becomes drunk when exposed to Blood. Just like a sweet poison, eroding at one's sanity until they are no more different than animals themselves
"No one in this town is human anymore. They're all flesh-hungry beasts now" Repeating Eileen's words, I unsheathed my Saw Cleaver. In response Gascoigne started lumbering toward me with his burly frame
The blow came fast, and just as deadly. I paid careful attention not to get hit by the Hunter's Axe. One strike from that thing means a revisit to the Hunter's Dream
I pulled out the Music Box in front of him. A melody started playing, which caused him to slowed his attacks
"Viola...?"
Ignoring his whisper, I rushed in and hacked away at him, eliciting a pained roar and an axe swipe that almost decapitate me. In his blind rage, Gascoigne's attacks are now mostly charged, meaning I can parry him more easily than before.
Dodging an overhead strike, my serrated weapon ripped through his flesh in a wide slash. In response he rolled forward and shot me in the leg, causing me to stumble and miss my following strike. I quickstepped away from him to avoid a blow and injected a Blood Vial, which takes one and a half seconds to do before the flurry of slashes came at me again
I flipped behind a grave, jumping up the nearby stair to gain leverage and descended down on him with my Saw Cleaver raised
SPLAT
Pools of blood formed on the ground as the timer ticked away. At the 80 second mark he entered his second phrase
"What's that smell? Oh the sweet blood, how it sings to me..."
I dodged back as he swung his axe in a wide arc, followed with a blast of his gun that I narrowly avoided. As I regained my bearing I was forced to evade four following axe slam that shattered the gravestone behind me
The two-handed axe swings, against all odds, become even faster under the man's bestial form. Our blades clashed. I divert it just in time to pull out the pistol with my other hand and parried him, perfectly performing a Visceral in his chest
The barrage stopped as Viola's music box was once again used, putting him into a temporary trance. The vulnerable prey allows me to close in for another Visceral Attack, gutting out large chunks of blood from my hand
I disappeared using [Stealth] and quickly blurred around. Gascoigne roared as I used a double-damage charged attack from behind which left him entering his third stage at the 40 second mark, his most dangerous stage
Thankfully it has a transformation period which allows me to recover my stamina in a brief respite
As he doubled up in rage I put some distance between us as quickly as I can. The Hunter pistol aim was steadied as I readied it for [Sniping]
A Loud roar echoed across the graveyard, followed by a shot of the pistol that staggered the man. I closed in and brought my Saw Cleaver down his neck
As I did so, his bandage came loose, revealing eyes of a blood drunk hunter. Irises that had turned into mush glared back at me, clouded in madness and rage
This is not Gascoigne anymore
This is just a Beast waiting to be take down
30 seconds
Blood sprayed in the air as I performed a Visceral Attack, draining a large amount of health from him
20 seconds
The Beast leaped on me from the sky. I rolled out of the way as the surrounding area exploded from his descend.
10 seconds
My Saw Cleaver tore through his flesh. The Beast in Hunter's garb grabbed it in a primal rage and snapped it in half, causing me to grimace at the unexpected move. I threw the Molotov Cocktails at him in hope to finish him off
Gascoigne staggered, his body on fire. Yet he still isn't dead
9...8...7
My eyes spotted his dropped Hunter's Axe on the ground, left abandoned after his transformation into a Beast.. my only chance at killing him
6...5...4
We moved at the same time. Me for the weapon, and him for me
Viola's music box was crushed in his step. Gascoigne seems to have halted slightly at the object, allowing me to reach it in time with a quick somersault
3...2...1
The beast lunged at me with all its might. Wind rippled across the graveyard from his movement, flattening the bush around us
I raised the Hunter's Axe above my head, before bringing it down using the last remain of my stamina
