Originally, I was not of this world. That's one distinctive thing I could remember
My vision is blurry...drowning in a sea of chaos
Fragmented shards filled my visions. Like broken parts of a Kaleidoscope. I glimpsed at the past, the present, and future of my life, before those light faded into the darkness
On the sixth month of an unknown year, I stranded on the beach just to the West of Europe. This identity known as (Y/n)Â awakened without memory in a village, only that of my name and strange clothing on my body
The first few days here felt lackluster. It felt like I'm forgetting something. Something very important. As though I'm missing a piece of myself.
Three days later, I left the village to explore this world, hoping to find whatever that is that drives me here
<><><><><><>
In the few years wandering on the outskirts of many countries, I learned of the existence of "magic", or rather "magecraft" and found myself acquaintance with some of their practitioners
By "acquaintance" it means confrontations of malevolent nature. Before I knew it I'd made enemy with about 29 Magus family and the Association in my travel
It is for various reasons, mainly the hindrance of their rather unethical research that led to their demise
I did end up learning about their school of Transmutation Magecraft. [Projection], [Alteration] and [Reinforcement] are the three spells I've taken up to due to their practical implications.
<><><><><><>
The 17th century rolled by. I was now officially recognized by the Association as the largest threat to their existence, due to the number of Magi dying at my hand
I don't understand
If you throw yourself against a knife, wouldn't it be you fault if you got hurt?
<><><><><><>
By the time I fully mastered every single branch of existing Magecraft I can get my hands on, my reputation had already soared through the roof, much to my annoyance
I went around hunting down rogue Magi for the Association as compensational services for their casualties, while still doing some research on the subject of Magic in order to find the thing that was missing from me. Sadly, I never succeed
I know a part of me was empty. Everyday, I felt...incomplete...without it
<><><><><<<>
It was not until two years later that I met him during one of my journey
"(Y/n) (L/n), correct?"
I gazed down atop the mountain of corpses at the old man underneath. Something about him seems strange
"That is indeed me. Who are you?"
"Oh, only a fellow hunter of Apostles" He tipped his hat down in greeting
The man's name is Zelretch. A wandering Magus who just happens to be doing the same thing as me: Hunting down the entity known as "Type-Moon" that has create chaos over the country these past few years
What are TYPE's? Simply put, they are ultimate life forms. Monsters. Consciousness of entire Heavenly Entities squeezes into a host's shell designed to burn entire worlds down with a blast of their arms. One of which includes the man known as Crimson Moon
Or, as we like to call him. Brunestud, King of vampires
"It seems we have the same objective. We should group up. What say you?
Which begins the start of a very close, if not bizarre relationship between two average Magus looking for the moon
<><><><><><><>
It didn't take long for me and him to gain some infamy from our actions
If before I was a "monster" in the Association's eyes, now I was a nightmare. Some of our prey are Magus who sought vampirism for immortality, so it can't be helped
We travelled while looking for traces of the Ultimate One. It lead us to Romania where we has to face off against a remarkably large number of his generals
Our killing spree forced all of the higher Apostle called "Ancestors" to intervene along with their army
Naturally, we killed them. I ended up developing some form of weapons against unholy beings that was gifted to the Church right after
<><><><><><>
Three years later, most of the Dead Apostle kind were terminated. Zelretch made some advancement toward his Magic while I focused on creating my own branch of Magecraft. That is also when we finally meet him
The night descended, the moon rises, and from the darkness of Gaia, Brunestud himself comes to us
Our battle were quite intense. I don't remember much of it, except that I threw the Moon back into orbit. Zelretch using a cannon. And several countries being burned to the ground in our wake.
In the end, only a smoking crater was left behind where the vampire corpse's lay
I wade through the ashen remains of the grassland, looking for my partner
"Zelretch" I blinked, looking at the wounded old man bleeding out on the ground "Are you okay?"
"Yes (Y/n). I just have half of my respiratory system decimated. My lung's stop functioning and I'm pretty sure my heart just stopped beating a few minutes ago since it's lying on the ground not far from me"
"...that sounds kind of bad"
"Don't worry. Because Brunestud's turned us into Dead Apostles in that final attack. That now made me and you undying entities that cannot be killed by normal means"
But aren't both of us immortals already?
A second passed. I shook my head, before hoisting him up from the wreckage. We dusted our clothes and started walking back the way we come
The wreckage of our battle was still burning behind us. Ash and smoke filled the air of this dreary battlefield, intoxicating every last living creatures still on this land
"...."
"So, we're vampires now?"
"I guess so"
"That's neat"
"Yeah it is"
<><><><><><><>
We parted ways soon after. During that two hundred years period we both went into retirement from our hunting business. At that time, Zelretch was already nearing the completion of his ultimate tool
He continue to further his study on the Second Magus he acquired, while I to went into hiding and seek an average life on the coast of America, where I bought a small farm and a dog to live with
The dog's name was Malley. She's a good dog who loves her master just as much as I love her. We spent a decade living together in happiness
I felt as if that part I've been searching for these years had almost been filled away
The normal peaceful life I had was soon interrupted, however...
<><><><><><><>
My eyes snapped open. I sat up from the bed
Just a dream
I then yawned tiredly
The even of last night had me losing sleep somewhat. I have the feeling "killing" off the Hassans might not be a good idea after all
Around me, the room was empty. However upon closer inspection one would see two women accommodating it. Merlin who's chomping on a cup of ramen in the corner while listening to the news, and Caster still working with the map of Fuyuki laid out in front of her
"How has it gone?" Walking toward the bathroom, I washed my face and dried it with a nearby towel.
I soon threw it aside, however, after noticing the tuff of fox fur on it
"Not much progress. Looks like we really have to settle with this abandoned apartment building for now" The fox girl sighed, leaning her head against the table
Not that the current one was not suitable. Our room was riddled with steel-plated walls reinforced with magic, bulletproof glass, and several layers of Bounded Fields specializing in combat beforehand. They are small, mobile and easily set up within the first hour here
The pair of Casters really did their best to make this place as defendable as possible. But if we want to create a magical fortress capable of withstanding a rain of Noble Phantasms we're going to need a big source of magical Energy nearby
"I have an idea. Let's just use my body as a Mana battery for now"
Bọt of them looked at me as if I'm crazy
"Master- no, (Y/n), do you know how much mana it's going to take to maintain the complex level of formations we're going to lay out on the base?"
"I am well aware of the cost" I waved my hand in dismissal "But it's a good way to give you an advantage over enemy Servants. At the current no one suspected that there might be two Casters in this war, so when they attack it's going to be an easy chance to surprise them"
"Yes, it's certainly logical but can you handle it?" Merlin asked incredulously "I've seen men too boastful of their own abilities and paid for it with their life. As a Master, you dying in such a way will be devastating to us"
I exhaled in a deep breath, before explaining
"My mana pool is larger than most Magus. Much larger. The reason you're at optimal performance is due to my reserve filling you in. The reason two Casters was summoned instead of one was also due to me pouring too much reserve into the magic circle. And yet I felt not a single smidge of exhaustion. Trust me, I can handle the mana drain just fine"
The white-haired Magus only shook her head lightly.
"It looks like I've gotten quite the interesting Master to serve" She licked her lips "Alright, we're going to link the Bounded Fields to you, but that means you have to stay safe. Every time you go outside you'll now have to bring either of us with you"
"But-"
"Nope. This is a war, which means our enemies won't stop at any given opportunity to take us down. Beside-" She smiled, as if from some twisted joke
"Just because we're Casters doesn't mean we are that helpless"
<><><><><><><>
She can't remember in detail what happened last night
When the night had fell, and the curtains closed, the Shadow came to the Matou manor. In the form of a devil
She can't hear anything past the door of their family's basement. Past the mass of wriggling worms underneath her, below her, and inside her. Not until the entrance to the room was blown off of course
"Fuck. It stinks in here"
The sounds of boot steadily hitting the floor reached her ears. Sakura's eyes tiredly glanced up to see the shadow casually taking a walk down the stairs. The closer he approached them, the more agitated the worms around her move in response
Darkness wreathed around his form, snaking like tendrils across the floor. His coats fluttered with each steps he took, resembling a pair of black raven wings that sprout from its back
Like a dark angel...or a demon
Instinctively, the little girl reached out our a hand toward the Shadow. She doesn't feel any particular strong emotion, only that his presence soothes her
"Oh, you poor, miserable girl" He sighed as he placed his foot on the final step of the stairs.
Immediately, the Crest Worms converged on him, their sharp teeth that could easily tore through flesh were bared open as they lunged forward
But his sword is sharper
Everything happened like a blur. One moment the horde of worms were still there
The next, they were but meat paste spattered on the walls and ceiling. The Shadow was calmly standing there with barely a drop of blood on him
In his hands were twin blades of death. Black and White. Representing Yin and Yang. Of Light and Darkness. In her eyes, the blades look as if they could bring judgement to a mortal's souls
One of her mother's past stories echoed in the young, impressionable mind of Sakura Matou. About a certain legend in Christian mythology that tells of a Devil who is the ruler of Hell. He, too, possess power over the dark
Could he be...Satan?
<><><><><><><><>
Swish swish
The blades go swish swish
And the worms goes splat splat
Or at least that's how things happened. He's not exactly one who are skilled with words. No, that's his Caster-class counterpart. The thing Assassins are good in is killing, and he is no exception
The two blades flashed in the air as he sliced off a dozen more with one strike. Their names are Kanshou and Bakuya. Imagine his surprise when this turns out to be the default weapon for his class when he pulled it out
Well, not that he's complaining
They have decent frame, a good balance between sleek and heavy, dealing moderate damage but still have space for flexible maneuverability. He barely felt the effort required to swing these things and still managed to cut through steel with ease
As the last of the worms were crushed under his boot, Assassin slowly made way to the naked little girl lying at the middle of the chamber.
Her soulless eyes stared up at him, but now that most of the worms are gone, some semblance of life had returned to her
Gently, He picked her up. There was no visible reaction, even as the man poked her by the cheek
"What's your name?"
"...Sakura"
Assassin seemed to consider something
"Do you want to get out of here?"
Her hand gripped tightly around his coat. The fire known as hope began surfacing in those crystal violet eyes
"Please"
He stepped out of the room. The few swarms of insect familiars sent at him were taken care of. He easily navigated through the complex network known as the Matou manner to arrive at...her bedroom
Sakura looked at him
"Hey, don't judge me" He shrugged "I'm not bringing a naked girl like you outside. That's just inviting all sorts of trouble to myself"
Feeling embarrassed, the girl walked in and put on her clothes. A simple purple dress she brought with her. Grandfather ordered Shinji to burn the rest since they weren't of much use before, as was the rest of her luggage
With that done, the Matou girl quickly hopped back on his back. They both travelled through the rest of the house. Assassin easily evaded the Bounded Field and soon enough they were nearing the Manor's boundary
Sakura slowly relaxed as the cool air breezed through, her vision of the star-filled sky signifies her freedom. Up above, the manor's gate lie open with their barrier deactivated
It's been a long time since she's been out here, not since she'd moved in at least
"And where do you think you're going?"
Just like that, Matou Zouken came out from the darkness. Masses of worms converging at his feet which slowly shaped him up in a disgusting manner. Black eyes staring at them with calmness of a monster
He was always there
"Outside" Was her reply. When Zouken asks you something, you answer him with utmost honesty and consideration. No exception can be made lest he punish you.
Fear suddenly gripped Sakura. Why was it that she thought he would let her go that easily?
Assassin slowly lowered her to the ground. A hand settled down her shoulder, brining with it a comfortable warmth that once again calmed the girl down
"She's going with me" It was not a threat. It was a statement made obvious by the tone of his voice.
That's right. She has nothing to fear
The power of Satan is on her side after all
"Very well" Zouken grinned. He lightly tapped his cane into the ground. A moment later a maddened howl echoed through the night, followed by a figure clad in black armor crashing to the ground
Assassin's eyes widened
<><><><><><><>
This wasn't what I'd had in mind
"Kariya Matou wasn't the Master" I muttered, gazing at the black-clad hound whose forms are wreathed in black aura. He got up in a crouching stance, red eyes ominously showing underneath
"No. That failure was the Master of Berserker" The old man chuckled "Or at least until he tried to retaliate against me. The fool put his hope in you to rescue the little girl. But in the end he doesn't have enough mana to fight off against me"
His Command Seals flashed a crimson hue
"So, my mad Servant, crush this little vermin in front of you"
Berserker roared and charged forward like a rabid dog. His sword split the air in front of us as torrent of wind sliced forward. I picked up Sakura and stepped to the side, narrowly avoiding it in time. I then jumped back to put some distance between us
Just in time too, as Zouken's insect summon whizzed past us just moments later
Motherfucker
I have to fight Berserker and his Master while protecting a little girl at the same time. I can't use any mana, Noble Phantasms, and my non-existent luck prevents me from having any grounds over them. I am at a severe disadvantage in this battle
...
Just kidding
[Presence Concealment]
"Wha-where did he go?" The old man's eyes widened in shock as he glanced around the now empty courtyard. Terror filled his eyes at the prospect of losing the breeding bride for his family's next generation
Zouken used [Panic]
It wasn't really effective
Suddenly, the arm that carried his Command Seals was cut off. The black-coated Servant appeared on the other side of the clearing with the arm in his palm
Berserker, who's already in the middle of another attack, stopped. The Servant was confused as which of them to attack. The master who ordered him just then, or the master with the master's mark on them
Assassin raised the hand up. The three Command Seals glowed brightly in the dark space
"Berserker. I am now your Master" He calmly stated "As such, you are to listen to my command. Take off your armor and rape Zouken Matou until he die!"
He's really lucky to have had his Madness Enhancement on, otherwise Lancelot might not like the idea very much
<><><><><><><>
"Wow...that is...really graphic"
"Hush Sakura! Didn't I tell you to cover your eyes?" Assassin chided her while holding on a camera he'd just taken nearby. On the screen was a live recording of Berserker dutifully doing his master's command with vigor "Otherwise you might lose your innocence!"

If you ask me how all participants of the war and Mathews himself got into the stream at the same time. Let's just say there are some stories behind it...
