"Right" Ulbert flexed his hands "With that courtesy out of the way, how have you been these past few weeks?"
"Umu..I've been fine, if not a little bored" He nodded his head "I mean, these days there's not much for me to do except regulating the defense for Nazarick and making sure everything's still in place. In fact, I may have gone off to solo a few dungeons before you came here"
"You....soloing dungeons?"
If Yggdrasil's facial code allowed the goat demon to blink, he would have already
"Are you trying to imitate that bastard again?"
Ah yes...that bastard...the perfect white knight who can absolutely dismantle a mid-level raid boss back in their early days...the one Momonga had always looked up to
...To which he called bullshit. If their guild leader were to admire someone, it should be him, Ulbert the great caster! One time he destroyed four Primal Elementals with just a maximized super-tier spell for fuck's sake!
Is he being jealous of Touch Me?
Abso-fucking-lutely. Not
"No, no, Ulbert-san, you got it all wrong!" Momonga waved his hands, already seeing his friend's temper rising by the seconds "It's just plain boredom on my part. Even when we almost go through every dungeons in this realm of Yggdrasil, there are still unexplored ones that I'd like to visit, just for experience's sake.....plus the loots they dropped are kind of interesting"
And just like that, Ulbert deflated
"Of course, the loot" He sighed "Sasuga, Momonga-sama"
"Hey!"
Even though on the surface Momonga seems like a mild and polite person- always the helper to his guild mates when they first join the heteromorph clan, those close to him in Ainz Ooal Gown unfortunately knows a different side to the undead lich. A darker side that would even make Bukubukuchagama to tremble in fear and Punitto to constantly be paranoid of him
When it comes to loot and items alike, Momonga becomes an absolute demon.
Every time he has the chance, the guy collects everything. Everything, from even the lowest-level magic scroll to a broken dagger near the end of it's durability, to even a high-class sword that he himself has no use for considering his build and spells
All of it was then stored within an assortment of hundreds of [Infinite Backpack] stored within his own unlimited Item box. As of now that should have been nearly 50 tons-worth of items if the amount of full backpack were taken into consideration
How does that work, you'd ask
Shitty devs. Shitty game. Shitty balance
Ah, and then there's Momonga's relationship with the Gacha mistress as well
Flashback
"Pero, help me get our leader off his damn suite"
"What happened?"
"Hell if I know, Yamaiko said he's been possessed by the Gacha Ghost or something like that!"
"Ehehe...EHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
From inside the room, their leader's crazed voice could be heard laughing like a psychopath, along with the horrifying clanking sound of another gacha being pulled
"Momonga, that cash item isn't worth it!"
<><><><><><><><>
For his credit, the lich still managed to look embarrassed despite the lack of ingame facial restriction his avatar possessed
"But anyway, now that you've decided to rejoin Yggdrasil, how about going dungeoning with me?" He offered "I couldn't enter it due to party restriction, but since you're already here..."
He trailed off at the last part, not wanting to sound too demanding toward the goat
As for Ulbert, his only reaction was to brought out a hand and scratched his chin in thought "If there's a party restriction, it means there's a high chance of them spawning rare items...yet at the same time, the enemies will get tougher as well"
If bad comes to worse, he can still have his teammate to protect him while he casts [Grand Catastrophe]. That alone should have guaranteed to clear out a high-leveled boss battle, but he won't want to take the risk
"First we'll need to learn more about it, what do you know about the dungeon?"
"Nothing" Momonga cheerfully replied
"..."
"Nothing" He repeated dully "Are you serious?"
"I am" The lich nodded his head "To be fair it's only been released about 30 minutes ago. I knew that since I followed the dev's forum after all"
"But why would they release such a thing when they're only a month away from closing down? Isn't that a little too counterintuitive?" If he knows anything about those people, they're not idiots. Greedy, lazy, uncreative, unfair, maybe. But never stupid
"Well...they said it was a hint to their next game, called League of Legends or something like that"
"Oh that makes sense, how many people do you think will also come there out of curiosity?"
Punitto's Motto number 1: Never pass up the chance to PK an enemy
"Not much I'd wager. There's only about 20 online players right now and most of them are under level 80. They wouldn't attempt such a high risk expenditure to our realm right now, closing days or not"
Geh, only small fries that isn't worth PKing. He would rather spends his time doing something more worthwhile
"Besides, even if they did the party restriction won't allow them to enter, since they don't meet the necessary requirements"
Now that part got him interested
"And what are those restrictions?" Ulbert's eyes gleamed as he tipped his hat down
From his knowledge of the game, a dungeon's aspects can be deciphered using it's entry requirement. It may look genral at first, but over time he'd learned to recognize certain patterns across similar area
"Oh, there's a long list of them, just let me copy paste the data for you"
Ulbert's eyes scanned over the list once, before he let out a humming sound, presumably lost in thought
"This is oddly specific, isn't it?"
"It is" He grumbled "Which would normally make it pretty hard to pinpoint the exact location, with these ironclad restrictions"
"But I think I may have an idea as to where it is"
"You do?" The lich avatar looked at him, at the same time a surprised Emote popped up beside him "I've been researching on all the realms and biomes Yggdrasil contained, yet none of them possessed requirements like this before"
"That is because this is related to a certain questline" He responded, standing up from his spot "It would only be expected that you didn't know about it. Pick up your gears first and let's meet later at Nazarick's first floor"
"Alright"
<><><><><><><><><>
Nazarick's Seventh floor may be his most favorite among those of Nazarick, both aesthetically and conceptually speaking
"Ah...it has been far too long, Demiurge"
The stylish looking devil express no emotion at his master's words, his elegant face a blank mask of pleasantness with a perpetual grin etched on it.
Yet for a moment, Ulbert could have sworn he saw the NPC's glasses flashed with a strange light, as if genuinely happy to see him
Perhaps it's just a trick with the lighting, he supposed. Either that or a glitch with the game's interface that made him see it
Maybe he's just imagining this. It's been such a long time since he's been here that Ulbert Alain Odle may have started being nervous about it
Shaking his head, he walked past his creation - commanding him and his Evil Lords to follow alongside him to his personal quarter. They soon arrived at an exquisitely decorated suite- a room filled with his personal favorite items lining up in different shelves in the wall, while a small workstation was laid at the opposite end of it
He walked up to a chest and opened it. The usual grid boxes appeared, which prompted Ulbert to reached his hand inside and took out his gears
[Starless Night Cane]
The goat demon slide his hand across the smooth surface of his familiar cane. He marveled at the intricate golden design etched atop it's handle, as though made for nobility and not a weapon of war
Well he certainly know better. There's nothing more powerful in his entire arsenal than this Divine Class item
[Dark Magician's Robe]
[Baran's Mask]
[Realm of the Living Nightmares]
He finished donning the item. Ulbert inspect himself in the mirror. His appearance mirrored Demiurge's outfit, only with a dark black color with blue chrome and a high class cape draping over his left shoulder
"Time to join Momonga in the hall" He muttered, turning toward his NPC. Ulbert patted the devil on the head "I'll be off, Demiurge. Take care of your fellow demons for me"
The ring in his hand flashed, and Ulbert teleported to the ninth floor where his guildmate is waiting for him
"Ready?" He nodded "Alright, let's go"
