Keia
Cassius
Nathaniel
Jasmine
Found in a stream as a newborn, Keia was viewed as a bad omen their entire life. They grew up alienated from the other villagers, with only their adoptive mother, Ariadne, to turn to for support. After her death, Keia joins an organization that promises a close-knit, accepting found family -- only, this organization is one of the world's most notorious terrorist groups.
During the story, Keia is enlisted to assassinate Cassius, the son of a very powerful businessman with a strong political influence. Upon getting to know Cassius in order to get close enough to assassinate him, Keia discovers that the narrative the terrorist group has been telling them their entire life isn't entirely true, and they must choose between blind loyalty or the actual belonging they wanted all along.
Cassius is to one day become head of his family and manage their business and strong sociopolitical influence. His father Ellison, on a bit of a power trip, is in the midst of making quite a controversial name for the family, and Cassius isn't so sure if he wants to inherit this sort of responsibility. However, Cassius is very qualified to lead the Flores family and is well-liked socially, so he's forced to get along with his household, if only on the surface.
Cassius is a kind person who doesn't like conflict, so to avoid worsening his relationship with his family and the daunting decision of his future, he enrolls in one of the world's most prestigious universities in the hopes of bringing pride and success to his name in other ways. Here, he meets Keia and the others who have a profound impact on him from that point onwards.
Nathaniel was in a car accident affiliated with the terrorist group Eden a few years prior to the story, which took many things from him at once: his left arm, his previously stable relationships, and the lives of his mother and sister. This experience continues to impact him throughout the story, and has hardened him significantly. If one can manage to get through his rigid exterior though, he turns out to be a very loyal, thoughtful, and empathetic person. Upon meeting Keia, Cassius, and Jasmine, some of these more positive traits start to shine through again after years of repression. However, he has much to learn about accepting his past before he can properly thrive in his present.
Jasmine was born in the same city as Cassius, but they don't meet until university. Her parents are weaponsmiths, and they travel around the world for business. Jasmine loves her family and is grateful for the job security, but she doesn't enjoy the lifestyle, which constantly uproots her life and leaves her homes behind. She has a bubbly and joyful personality and she loves others deeply, and so when she meets Keia and the rest of the story's characters, she finally gets to experience finding a home in a group of people. Her and Keia become close friends, both having had similar nomadic backgrounds.
Jasmine is, to archetype her, a "life of the party" kind of person, and she loves connecting with people. She is determined to make the most out of any situation, and is the one who brings together Cassius and Keia, and encourages Nathaniel to come out of his shell.
Cassius' father and the current head of the Flores family. More information TBA.
A skilled fighter and Keia's very first friend, Heidi is a very important part of Eden, resting high up in the ranks. She's been there since she was a young child and developed a very wide skillset -- especially when dealing with other people. She can extract information from her target in half the time as anyone else, or manoeuvre even the most stoic into giving her what she needs. Because of this, Eden has entrusted her to execute part of their assassination plot. Her bosses lean on her for many of the most important tasks, and, because of her strong loyalty, she always delivers.
She ends up forming a very strong bond with Keia as they are some of the only ones of their rare species left. She loves them strongly but feelings between the two are complicated, especially with the weight of Agnacia's political scene on their shoulders.
