Month 8 (July): Bun Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent Festival)
The Bun Khao Phansa Festival is a merit-making ceremony during which Buddhist monks stay in their temples throughout the rainy season. Villagers offer essential daily-use items for the monks to use over the three-month period. Additionally, large candles are presented in a special ceremony. In the past, when electricity was not available, these candles were used to provide light for monks during their religious practices.
