As you can probably see this section is about people. People who inspire us, give us ideas and hopes for a greener, sustainable future. People who not only care for the environment during their everyday life, but who use their status in order to influence others to do so as well. In this context, it would be neglectful not to mention the people of IKEA.

At IKEA they're not only into making good- looking furniture. They're also all-in for a more sustainable future. No talking, but actions. Starting with the thought that the environment is one of the most important factors of human existence, they strive for a more eco- friendly but as well human- friendly future. Talking about actions, IKEA publishes annually a carefully written Sustainability Report, which includes strategies on helping our planet. These reports have led them source all the cotton used, from fully or partly sustainable sources. As well they switched their entire lighting range, to energy efficient LED lights. I mean, how cool is that.

If we didn't talk you into the huge amount of help IKEA provides to the planet, read this. The group is working towards 100% renewablility, meaning that they are planning to produce exactly as much as they consume at their operations. Fascinating right? And it doesn't end here. By 2020 they are planning to source all of their wood from sustainable sources. And we're talking about a lot of wood. Stating the obvious, this is only the start for them, since they are about to invest nearly one billion dollars of their funds on climate actions.

So the next time you are about to buy some furniture think about it. Think about the earth and think about yourself. Support people who care for the enviornment and work towards a sustainable future. It may not be IKEA, but it could be anyone. As long as they care for our planet.
