Born around the same time as Boa Hancock and her sisters, Efigenia was on the Kuja Pirates ship when the other three were kidnapped and then sold into slavery. The loss of her then-close friends left a permanent scar on her. Causing a child who was already considered a prodigy to push herself to extreme limits. Her training was often taken to the next level as she pushed herself to become stronger than anyone else to ensure that no one was ever taken again. Spending weeks alone out in the jungles around the village of Amazon Lily and even swimming in the sea around the island to fight the creatures of the water once she was strong enough to challenge smaller Sea Kings. 

Her drive to become stronger to protect her sisters and home however couldn't tame the wild streak within her. She was considered half-wild even by her people. By the time Boa and her sisters returned, she was known as a daredevil who rarely even slept in the village when the Kuja pirates were home. The village elders saw her as an untamable force and too reckless to name as the Empress. A title that she'd never wanted and was happy to see given to Boa. 

It was upon the return of Boa and her naming of the Empress of Amazon Lily that Efigenia's true talents were revealed. Since she saw Boa as her true Empress her wild nature was tamed into a flexible force to be welded by her ruler's command. Turning her into one of her strongest warriors since before none could command her. Boa, well aware that she was a free spirit, turned her talents to good use and named her as the first official Scout of the Kuja Pirates. This title gave her extra freedom, allowing her to leave the island on her own and wander the seas for information and potential breeding partners to bring to her people. When she is on her own she poses as an exotic dancer so that no one can determine her true strength or link her back to her people.
