The monster begins to enrage and thrash about in the diner. Tables, chairs, and bits and pieces of the interior have been flipped, crushed, or thrown across the room. Peacock gets behind a table on its side with Omochao.
Stupid monster. Every time I try to shoot something at it, it just absorbs it!
Have you tried not shooting at it?
I have a process! First I shoot it with everything at my disposable and THEN I start bringin’ the big boys out.
Hey! Watch out!
Suddenly, the monster hears Navi’s squeaky voice and turns to it. The Oni then lifts one of its hands and slams the table away, revealing where Peacock and Omochao are.
Oh for- WHY CANTCHA KEEP YERR MOUTH SHUT?!?!?!?
Peacock takes Omochao and books it, right before another hand slams down onto the floor. As the two narrowly escape, Pyro begins to emit more fire from his flamethrower, laughing maniacally in the process. Lupin ducks behind cover and watches as his friend is burning without any remorse.
I’m so glad I wasn’t on the other side…
The Oni drops Okabe from his grasp and retreats back into the hallway, away from the fire . As soon as the monster retreats, everyone recuperates in the middle.
Where’s Niko?
As soon as the man spoke, the lights went out. The diner went pitch black, but one luminescent glow appeared in the kitchen. It’s dim, but yellow. It’s a glow that anyone from the SALT diner could recognize.
Hudda hudda! (Over there!)
Pyro runs over to the kitchen counter with the others following suit. Pyro peaks his head over the counter to find a faint yellow glow in the middle of the kitchen. Standing before them is Niko, still and idle.
Hudda hudda… (Come here kitty…)
As Pyro reaches closer, he notices that Niko’s eyes are pitch black, and they appear to have no mouth. The creepy image of Niko begins to morph into a hideous goo and all of a sudden transform back into the monster. The monster slaps the flamethrower off of Pyro and backhands Pyro into the wall, knocking him out.
Pyro!
Peacock then tries to extend her arm to grab Pyro, but the Oni grabs it and spins Peacock like a lasso before throwing her away to the other tables. While it continues to form itself, the Oni grabs Pyro and clasps him in its palm. As soon as it regains form, it chases after Okabe and Lupin. It tries to grab Lupin, but Okabe jumps in and pushes Lupin out of the way.
Cheese it!
Right!
Lupin and Okabe try to run away from the Oni, but the monster continues to chase them throughout the diner, leaving Omochao and Navi behind.
Great! What do we do now?
Life form detected.
Well yeah, I’m right in front of you.
Life form detected inside the freezer.
Omochao points his stubs towards the kitchen’s freezer. They both run over, but realize that they don’t have the hands or power to open a metal door.
I can’t do anything… I’m a fairy! I have no arms!
I’m not programmed to be strong enough to open large doors. Should we try asking for assistance?
How? Peacock and Pyro are down, and Lupin and Okabe are being chased down by the weird monster!
Navi? Is that you?!
Niko! You’re in there?!
Yes, but, I’m trying to get out! The monster put me here when I was assisting Mr. Okabe with preparations!
How aren’t you freezing?
I’ll explain later! For now, can you grab me a piece of firewood and slide it under the door!
You got it! Omochao, take some of the firewood and pass it through the little crack under the door.
Understood.
Omochao grabs the firewood and passes it to Niko from underneath the door. They step back as soon as they give all the firewood.
Okay! That’s all of them! Stand back, trust me!
The Top Tutorialists stand back and watch. All of a sudden, heat begins to melt through the door, and as soon as the hinges become loose… Niko slams the door open with a piece of wood that they had. Niko then throws the wood back into the freezer and they come out without feeling an inch of being chilly. Soon after, the lightbulb behind them begins to float and glow.
Woah, woah! The lightbulb is moving! Niko, catch that thing!
Don’t worry, Navi. It can just do that. Now, where’s the monster?
The monster begins to screech from the hallway. Niko and the Tutorialists follow the sound of the screaming and they find that the monster has captured both an unconscious Okabe and Lupin, both in the monster's right palm.
Oh no!
Warning, detecting imminent power. Escape the vicinity.
We can’t run! We have to get them back!
Omochao is right, Navi.
Niko has a serious look in their eyes. They begin to walk toward the monster, and the lightbulb following them begins to glow brighter and brighter.
Get Peacock up and run. Leave this monster to me.
Let’s go, Omochao!
The tutorialists run off and grab Peacock out of the diner. All while this is happening, Niko walks slowly towards the Oni in a menacing way. It’s almost as if you can see the word “menacing” appear from all around them.
If you can Mr. Monster, that’s our friends that you're holding…
The lightbulb grows a face, and it begins to grow an even bigger light. The Oni shields its eyes from the lightbulb as it is now cowering under the burning light of 「Ray of Sunshine」.
Initiate combat, Master Niko?
Go for it, Ray.
Ray then begins to glow exuberantly, to the point where it burns the Oni’s eyes. The Oni still grips onto the unconscious three, but the burning light continues to grow brighter. As a result, the Oni makes a hasty retreat, but drops one of them. The unconscious body of Okabe. Ray of Sunshine tries to chase after the Oni, but it has already disappeared in a small dark corner, along with Pyro and Lupin.
Okay, Ray. That’s enough.
But… our friends-
Don’t worry, it’s going just as Okabe planned.
Niko then walks up to the knocked out body of Okabe.
Send a light beacon to Mr. Tonio, Ray. We have a thief to heal.
