ThereCast: Destination Weather (“ThereCast”, “the App”) is developed and published by MrDevelopments Studio / Apps by MrD.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be accessed, collected, used, stored, or shared when you use ThereCast.
By using ThereCast, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
ThereCast is designed to provide weather information for your current location, destinations, and planned trips.
Depending on the features you use, the App may process the following information.
ThereCast may request access to your device location to:
Show weather for your current location.
Compare your current or home location with a destination.
Provide relevant destination weather information.
Location access is only used for weather-related functionality.
ThereCast does not require continuous background location tracking for its normal operation.
When you search for, share, or save a destination, ThereCast may store information such as:
Destination name.
Address or general place description.
Latitude and longitude.
Arrival and departure dates.
Custom trip name.
Trip reminder preferences.
Weather monitoring preferences.
This information is primarily stored locally on your device so that ThereCast can display recent destinations, saved trips, and weather reminders.
ThereCast allows you to share a destination from Google Maps to the App.
When you choose Share → ThereCast in Google Maps, ThereCast may process the shared place name, address, link, or coordinates in order to identify the destination and retrieve weather information.
ThereCast is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or Google Maps.
ThereCast includes an optional feature that can display a small weather bubble while Google Maps is open.
If you enable this feature, ThereCast may request Android Usage Access permission.
Usage Access is used only to determine whether Google Maps is currently open so that the optional ThereCast bubble can be displayed.
ThereCast does not use this permission to:
Read your selected Google Maps destination.
Read your Google Maps searches.
Monitor the content displayed inside Google Maps.
Build a history of other applications you use.
Create an advertising or behavioural profile based on app usage.
ThereCast may also request permission to display over other apps so that the optional weather bubble can appear above Google Maps.
These permissions are optional. You can disable the Maps Bubble at any time in ThereCast Settings or through Android system settings.
ThereCast currently uses weather data provided by MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute).
When weather information is requested, destination or location coordinates may be sent to the weather provider so that the relevant forecast can be returned.
Weather data may be cached locally to:
Improve performance.
Reduce unnecessary network requests.
Avoid repeatedly requesting the same weather information.
Cached forecast data is refreshed when appropriate and is not treated as permanently valid weather information.
When you type a city, address, hotel, landmark, or other destination, ThereCast may use a location search or geocoding service to convert your search into a geographic location.
The search text and resulting location information may therefore be processed by the location service used by the App.
The location-search provider may change in future versions of ThereCast. This Privacy Policy will be updated if a change materially affects how user information is processed.
The free version of ThereCast uses Google AdMob to display advertising.
Advertising may include:
Banner advertisements.
Interstitial advertisements.
Ads are not displayed inside the Google Maps ThereCast Bubble.
Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically process information such as:
Device information.
Advertising identifiers where permitted.
IP address.
Approximate location derived from IP address.
App interactions related to advertising.
Diagnostic and performance information.
The exact information processed may depend on your device, region, consent choices, Android version, and Google advertising settings.
Where legally required, ThereCast may request consent before personalized advertising or other consent-dependent advertising technologies are used.
Users who purchase ThereCast Lifetime do not receive banner or interstitial advertisements from ThereCast.
ThereCast offers an optional one-time purchase called ThereCast Lifetime.
Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.
ThereCast does not directly receive or store your:
Credit card number.
Bank account information.
Full payment credentials.
Google processes payments according to Google's own terms and privacy practices.
ThereCast receives information necessary to determine whether the Lifetime purchase is valid and whether Lifetime features should be enabled.
ThereCast Lifetime is a one-time purchase and is not a subscription.
If you grant notification permission, ThereCast may send notifications relating to saved trips.
These may include:
Upcoming trip reminders.
Updated trip forecasts.
Significant weather changes.
Rain, snow, storm, temperature, or other important weather alerts for monitored trips.
Notification preferences can be changed or disabled through ThereCast Settings or Android system settings.
ThereCast may store the following information locally on your device:
App settings.
Preferred language.
Celsius or Fahrenheit preference.
Wind-speed unit preference.
Recent destinations.
Saved trips.
Trip names and dates.
Notification preferences.
Weather cache.
Maps Bubble settings and position.
Onboarding completion state.
Lifetime entitlement cache.
Removing ThereCast from your device may remove locally stored App data unless Android or Google Play restores certain information.
ThereCast does not sell your personal information.
Information may be processed by third-party services only where required to provide App functionality, including services such as:
Google AdMob.
Google Play Billing.
Weather data providers such as MET Norway.
Location search or geocoding providers.
Android and Google Play platform services.
These third parties may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
Locally stored destination, trip, preference, and weather information may remain on your device until:
You delete the relevant information.
You clear the App's data.
You uninstall the App.
Cached weather information may be replaced or removed as new forecast data becomes available.
Third-party providers may retain information according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.
ThereCast uses reasonable technical measures to protect information handled by the App.
However, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You may control or disable various ThereCast features at any time.
Depending on your device, you may:
Revoke location permission.
Disable notifications.
Disable Usage Access.
Disable “Display over other apps”.
Disable the Google Maps Bubble.
Delete saved trips.
Remove recent destinations.
Change weather unit preferences.
Clear ThereCast's local application data.
Uninstall the App.
Some features may not function if the permissions required for those features are disabled.
ThereCast is a general weather and travel utility and is not specifically designed or directed toward children.
ThereCast does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children.
Third-party services used by ThereCast may process information on servers located outside your country of residence.
Where applicable, those providers are responsible for processing information in accordance with their own legal obligations and privacy practices.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when ThereCast's functionality, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change.
The latest version will be published on this Privacy Policy page with an updated effective date.
Continued use of ThereCast after an update means that the revised Privacy Policy will apply from its effective date.
