What is the Student Council?: To put it simply, student council is a group of peer-elected students there to address issues of concern and organize student events and activities. According to the DJDS Student Council Constitution, the main objective of the DJDS Student Council is to "represent the Student Body’s interests and ideas to the Administration and School Board, to organize events and traditions for the Student Body, to keep up the morale of the Student Body, and to promote and save the DJDS ruach in any way possible."
What does each position do?

President
The President of the Student Council leads weekly meetings, plans and manages programming, delegates responsibilities to members of Student Council, and ultimately decides the direction of the Student Council for the school year.
Vice President
The Vice President works closely with the President to lead meetings, plan programs, and assist the President throughout the school year. The Vice President will take the lead on various Student Council programming during the year, especially during the Fall and Spring Shabbatons.
Communications Director
The Communications Director is responsible for maintaining and updating all of student council's social media accounts, the student council board and calendar, and the creation and distribution of information relating to student council programming.
Israel/Judaic Programmer
The Israel/Judaic Programmer is responsible for taking the lead on planning a variety of Judaic programs throughout the school year including Rosh Chodesh, monthly all-school Friday Kabbalat Shabbat, holiday programming (High Holidays, Purim, Yom HaAtzmaut, etc.), and programs for the Shabbatons. The Israel/Judaics coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and recruiting for Friday morning minyan and works on integrating Israel into programs led by the student council.
Treasurer
It is the primary job of the student council Treasurer to raise money for student council. The Treasurer plans and executes fundraisers throughout the year as part of larger student council programming or as individual events. It is also the responsibility of the Treasurer to budget events and track student council finances for future programs.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for organizing and planning Student Council meetings, communicating the meeting agenda to all members of Student Council, and working with the President and Vice President to assign tasks and ensure that events are planned efficiently and effectively.
Liaison
The Liaison is primarily responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships between middle and high school students. It is the Liaison's responsibility to advocate for interconnective programs at all student council events.
Why don't I see class representative on the list?
Class representative elections take place in the Fall of the upcoming school year. These elections take place within said grade and are not one of the seven officer positions.
